A. POWERS OF THE PRESIDENT

 Appointment- act of designation by the appointing officer, body or board to whom


that the power has been delegated. From the Express of power of appointment, the
president derives the implied power of Removal.
 The Control Power-Power of an officer to alter or modify or nullify or set aside what
a subordinate officer had done in the performance of his duties
 The president exercises general supervision over local governments but cannot alter
of modify nor set aside what local executive had done in the performance of his
duties
 Military Power- Command of the Armed Forces and Declare Martial Law
 Power of Executive Clemency- power of the President in federal criminal cases to
pardon a person convicted of a crime.
 The President is the chief diplomatic officer of the country. He is the spokesman of
the nation on External Affairs.
 Budgetary Power- The president is mandated by the constitution to submit to
congress within 30 days from the opening of regular session.
 Veto power- reject a decision or proposal made by a law-making body
