 The Difference between Present Perfect and simple Past

We use Simple Past for actions that lasted in the past but are now finished ; Present Perfect is
used for actions that began in the past and continue up to the present.

 Mr. Yudhis worked as an employer in a company 5 years ago. Now he is a teacher. Hehas worked
V2 = Simple Past V3
in this school for more than 3 years.
 They lived in Yogyakarta last year. ( Now, they don’t live in Yogyakarta anymore )

They have lived in Jakarta since last year. ( Now, they still live in Jakarta )
