1)Why are the five pillars of Islam important?

Five pillars of Islam are important because each of them is an obligation for
Muslims. It brings benefits either directly or indirectly to each individual who
practices it. Examples like salah (prayer). As a muslims we need to pray five times
a day (at dawn, noon,mid-afternoon,sunset,and after dark) according to a
predetermined time period. Establishing prayers can not only strengthen faith and
but it can also make the body healthy where every muscle we will move while
doing rukuk, sujud, and so on. Second example is zakat (almsgiving). Zakat is an
act of giving a portion of a Muslim’s wealth to those in need throughout their
lifetime. This activity teaches every Muslim to always think of the hardships in the
lives of the poor. Thus, zakat can prevent us from being arrogant towards the
property we have.

2)List out the people who are not obliged to fast and pray. Explain why?

People who are not obliged to fast.

-sick people
-traveler(musafir)
-old people
-pregnant and breastfeeding women
-women who are menstruating
Sick people are not obliged to fast because if it can be harmful to health then the
person should not fast. Allah says in Surat Al-Baqarah verse 185, "And whoever is
ill or on a journey (then he breaks his fast), then (it is obligatory for him to fast), as
many days as he left, on other days." Furthermore, travelers are also allowed not to
fast. A person who travels long distances while fasting is allowed not to fast if his
condition is severe and difficult. However, the person is still obliged to change his
fast in the future. Moreover, Older people who are unable to fast are given
flexibility not too fast. Instead, the person is required to pay fidyah, that is, by
feeding the poor every time the person does not fast. As found in the hadith, the
group of people who can leave the fast further are pregnant women and
breastfeeding women. When a mother who is pregnant and breastfeeding is unable
to fast, Allah SWT relieves her not to fast and replaces it later this is because the
mother must eat nutritious food to supply milk for her child. In contrast to the
group of people who can leave fasting, women in a state of menstruation and
childbirth are even prohibited from fasting and performing other acts of worship.
because of their unclean condition.
People who are not obliged to pray.
-Kafir
-Children (who are not baligh yet)
-Crazy/Insane people
- Women who are menstruating or giving birth
Kafir people are not obliged to pray because there is no demand in the world for
them to pray. they profess other religions where they have a god, they worship
other than Allah S.W.T. In addition, children are also not obliged to pray until they
reach ‘baligh’. However, for parents or guardians, it is obligatory for them to teach
and educate about prayer. Besides, insane people also are not obliged to pray
because they have lost their sanity. They cannot judge which is good and which is
bad for them. Lastly menstruating and postpartum women. They are also a group
that is not obliged to pray because they are in a state that not clean to perform any
Ibadah.
