A Reaction Paper on the Tom Hopper's Film,

The King's Speech (2010)- A real story of King George VI

The Tom Hopper's Film The King Speech is a true story of King George VI, the Duke of York also known as
Bertie. This film portrays how the main character King George VI suffered from stammer or stutter in
speaking when times that he can't control his emotions to overflow and specally when he is in front of
the public and since his childhood he had that speech defect. I certainly think that it has something to
do in dealing with his emotions, to overcome fear, doubt, worry that he seems to be the resolution he
used by of course of the help of his uncertified therapist Lionel. Aside from overcoming emotional
barriers , he needed also to undergo specific practices with Lionel to make it. This tells us that
emotional barriers have a great impact on how we express our voice, opinions, our concerns and how
we utilize our power or authority we have upon our differents responsibilities and jurisdictions..

Talking about his therapist and his friend Lionel, he was revealed as uncertified, unqualified therapist of
Bertie as the Arcbishops revealed to Bertie. But eventually the product of Lionel experiences how he
psychologically made Bertie convinced on his capabilities to cure him is what I want to give emphasize
now. Although, Lionel was an actor, he possessed the skills of a professional speech therapist. His role as
the King therapist is vital for the Bertie and the King's people for they were in a great challenging times
that they need the King's leadership and voice for the people to have motivation to live and to be firm in
their patriotic duty in the war against Nazis which leaded by Hitler. Realizing from this that as we need
to overcome emotional barriers in order to advance our success or get out of a poor situation, we could
have our love ones, our friends, other closes people to get some help in overcoming our emotional
problems with our sorroundings who have the same experiences and winned to overcome their even
challenges instead of hardly seeking for a professional advice.

This movie may dull and lacks of thrills like some action movies but after all I enjoyed it and I am
fascinated with more thrilling life lesson it contains. This is also related to as I am pursuing to be a public
servant and of course especially as pursuant of the law. Public speaking is somewhat my passion
because I enjoy speaking and imparting my thoughts and my knowledge to people. This movie teaches
me that emotion is also vital factor in public speaking but with the limitations that we shouldn't be too
emotional for it will make us stammer like in the movie or the audience may perceive your delivery as
overacted and also we shouldn't be emotionless that couldn't hook the interest of the audience.
