Grade 8 Mathematics

Second Quarter
Performance Task 1

Content: Patterns and Algebra

Performance Standard: Formulate and solve accurately real-life problems involving
linear inequalities in two variables, systems of linear
inequalities in two variables, and linear functions.
Competency: (1) differentiates linear inequalities in two variables from linear equations
in two variables
(2) illustrates and graphs linear inequalities in two variables
(3) solves problems involving linear inequalities in two variables
(4) solves problems involving systems of linear inequalities in two
variables
Task Description: In this lesson, we have learned about the linear inequalities and the
system of linear inequalities in two variables. Your task is to
differentiate linear inequalities from linear equations in two
variables and solve real-life problems involving linear
inequalities in two variables and systems of linear inequalities in
two variables.
Type of Assessment: Written Output
Expected Output: * Completed the report on the difference of linear equations from
linear inequalities in two variables
* Solved the problem on the system of linear inequalities in two
variables
Assessment Criteria: Rubrics for Differentiating Linear Equations from Linear
Inequalities, Rubrics for Solving Problem
Task 1: Differentiating!
Directions Suppose you were assigned to report the difference between the linear
: equality in two variables and the linear inequality in two variables. Your
teacher asks for the summary of your report according to the format given
below. Fill in the table and provide five (5) examples in each type.
