NARRATIVE REPORT
DRRM CONCIOUSNESS MONTH CELEBRATION 2016

July was declared the National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) by virtue of
Executive Order 137 s. 1999 signed by then President Joseph Estrada.

The need to raise the public awareness and participation in disaster management,
preparation and response is necessary to mitigate the impacts of every emergency and calamity
situations in the country.
SDRRM preparedness activities such as earthquake and fire drill was conducted and a
culminating activity was done last July 15, 2016. Among the activities were Poster and Slogan Contest
and a lecture regarding the importance of readiness during disaster.

“To make our people own DRRM as a personal responsibility; that surviving, outlasting the
ravages of any hazard, and making communities resilient, is a duty of every Filipino,” Mr. Pio Sales
said, SDDRM Coordinator during his message.
