CONCEPT PAPER ON THE EFFECTS OF PROCRASTINATION

IN HEALTH AND EDUCATION AMONG SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENTS IN KALINGA STATE UNIVERSITY

This certain research will be conducted through virtual means, and mostly target the
senior high school students of Kalinga State University. This research will also be conducted by
the researchers of Kalinga State University with proper permission of the faculty office to make
this possible. The research will also provide data resource for further parallel studies to be
conducted as a basis of information to widen the scope of the study. This study to be conducted
will also be submitted as a partial fulfillment for the researchers to publish it soon, providing with
a hard copy and a soft copy of it.

Procrastination is known as the “act of delaying” or an action of unnecessarily and

voluntarily delaying or postponing something despite that there will be negative consequences
for doing so. The word has originated from the latin word procrastinatus, which evolved from the
prefix pro-, meaning “forward” and crastinatus, meaning “of tomorrow”. (Ashman, K. & Hull G.
jr., 2016). Our questions to be solved here will mostly be tackling on the effects of
procrastination in health and education among the senior high school students of Kalinga State
University. Our objectives are to gather qualitative data among the senior high students of
Kalinga State University, who are experiencing procrastination. Considering that procrastination
is something students experience in common, we also wanted to learn deeper about how do
these students develop a procrastinating habit. In order to come up with solutions, data analysis
is needed.

This research will consider the use of both virtual surveys and hard copy surveys. These
surveys will be inspected for approval and is to be conducted by the members of the faculty
office or research experts. The survey will also be sent via link through the use of Google Forms
for a much simpler and organized survey for those who can access the internet. Students that
can’t answer the questions virtually, will be handled out hard copies of the survey and
questionnaire and given their desired limit of time to send it to us through the school. The
questions will be separated in various categories for each objective to be understood and for the
qualification of data if they had met the expectations of the researchers.

The coverage of expenses will be focusing only on the hard copies. Our total coverage
of the students to answer the survey or questionnaire will be 300 students. Since half of the total
population of students can’t access via the internet, 150 copies are to be handed out to them.
Cost for the paper to be used is ₱200.00 for printing purposes. A rim of bond paper consists of 5
pages. The 500 pages of paper will be used for printing purposes. Since one page of a printed
document is said to be ₱4.00 in common price, our total for the printing purpose would be
multiplying the price of printing ang the number of papers to be printed. The sum of the printing
cost will be ₱2,000.00. Many copies will be made in case some students change their mind on
answering virtually, or if there are secondaries. So, the total expenses for the research would be
₱2,200.00.
