Ideas Summary/Explanation
Introduction: The Starbucks and the Global interconnection is woven into the
Shanty fabric of everyday life, according to
geographers, anthropologists, and
sociologists who examine the phenomena
from the ground up. Those who pay
attention can see it. As a result, the
difference serves as a reminder that
globalization has its drawbacks. If
globalization is defined as the expansion
and consumption of cultural/commercial
signifiers, the shanty reflects the
persistence of the local, who is unwilling
to engage in the cosmopolitan culture
symbolized by Starbucks.
Conceptualizing and Defining Conceptualizing is the process of forming

describing the nature, extent, or meaning
of something.
Colonialism, Modernity, and the Creation Colonialism is a form of dominance that
of Global Inequality entails the enslavement of one people by
another. One of the problems with
defining colonialism is that it's difficult to
tell it apart from imperialism. Modernity is
a generation's self-definition of technical
advancement, governance, and
socioeconomics.
Challenging the Colonial Order The socialist international, a federation of
socialist parties that ushered in the
emergence of leftwing influence in
European politics in the early twentieth
century, did not prioritize colonized
people's struggles in its programs.
Conclusion: The Global South as New The global south has and continues to be
Internationalism a paradigm of resistance for the rest of
the world. The global south staged a
global protest. Perhaps most importantly,
a similar globalization of southern
concerns is emerging in discussions of
global groups from the global south who
have been expressing environmental
blueprints.

important trade routes and in some
places more technologically advanced
than the West in key areas such as
science and medicine.
The Anti-Global Impulse: Regional See the region as a source of resistance

in East and Southeast Asia with new
masters
