Energy Bike: Ecological exercise bike

Why buy our product?

two
Thanks to its great qualities, Energy Bike is an exercise bike that does not pollute, it is one of

the cleanest and healthiest ways to exercise. In addition to all this, this bicycle offers the

possibility of charging your mobile phone, GPS, rechargeable lights or other device that needs to

be charged with the electricity that is generated when you pedal and its connection is with a USB

port, very simple to use. The foregoing enhances its appeal to the environmentally conscious

customer we want to reach.

We will seek to position ourselves in the market as a viable solution to the needs of product

diversification and quality of service, where the most important variable will be opportunity and

compliance with delivery times.

Black stationary bicycle, with an ergonomic design and futuristic style. The movement of the

pedals feeds a generator using a pulley and a dynamo, transforming the kinetic energy produced

by the movement of the pedals, into electrical energy, with the possibility to store it in a portable

battery (not included). On top of the pedaling, a solar panel placed on the rear of the bike will

two
also supply energy for the day. The stationary bike is designed for domestic use, as it can provide

enough power to charge a cell phone, light lightbulbs, or power a television, while burning

calories and improving your health.

Product characteristics:

 Its operation is basic and similar to that of normal bicycles. It has seats and pedals in the

two
style of traditional bicycles, but they incorporate additional functions, such as distance

traveled, resistance adjustment and connectivity with USB port to be able to charge

electronic devices.

 They are perfect for those who enjoy using the normal bicycle and want to do an

equivalent exercise at home, giving them a very similar feeling.

 Exercising on one of these machines provides the same type of cardiovascular training as

with a normal one, taking up less space than other types of bicycle.

 It can be folded and stored in a closet.

Advantage

1. Simulates the feeling of riding a normal bicycle.

2. Easy to use.

3. It allows you to exercise comfortably at home and at the same time, electric

power can be produced by pedaling to charge electronic devices or a portable

battery.

4. While you use it, you can perform leisure activities, such as watching TV,

listening to music, etc.

5. Ideal for all types of public, the only thing that is required is to be willing to take

care of your health.

6. It takes up little space.

ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

7. It helps improve heart pressure, regulates blood sugar, increases the amount of

good cholesterol, prevents heart attacks and improves overall physical condition.

Disadvantages

1. People with back or neck problems may experience pain during prolonged

two
training sessions.

2. It does not have a backrest to rest the back, but an orthopedically suitable version

for the elderly is already being considered.

3. If you want to work the muscles of the whole body, additional equipment is

required.

4. You will burn fewer calories than with treadmills.

5. The workouts are monotonous.

Pedaling system:

The pedaling system is the number of turns made by the steering wheel for each pedaling

cycle, through this characteristic, you can obtain smooth pedaling, comfort, feeling, reliability

(1/8 x turns).

Braking system:

Magnetic resistance, this system has captured the largest market, its operation is based on

electromagnetic induction in order to provide the necessary resistance.

Advantages of the brake system

 Soften pedaling for a more comfortable workout.

ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

 The resistance level selection is done at the touch of a button, which greatly facilitates its

use.

 They are quieter than those of contact resistance.

Pedal Weight:

two
The relationship is that the heavier the pedal is, the slower and smoother it will turn, this

makes the bike feel more real, then it has an ideal weight which produces a perfect, smooth and

rhythmic pedaling (pedal weight greater than 1 kg).

Resistance levels:

Resistance levels between 1 and 20.

Maximum user weight:

We design these bicycles with a safety margin, so the maximum user weight indicated in

the description must be respected, this guarantees the useful life and good operation of the

machine (<120 kg).

Holder-Technology (Device holder):

It is a necessary accessory for this product. It was chosen to have a waterproof and sweat-

proof coverage, which would guarantee the manipulation of the mobile without losing protection

characteristics.

Warranty and customer service policies:

Logistics services will allow delivery on time and with compliance with delivery times.
ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

The exchange or return of the product is applied within 30 days after receipt only due to

factory defect. You can request a full refund or exchange (whatever the client requires)

o Destination country: Costa Rica

two
The Republic of Costa Rica is a sovereign nation, organized as a unitary presidential

republic made up of 7 provinces. Located in Central America, it has a territory with a total area

of 51,100 km. It borders Nicaragua to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east, Panama to the

southeast, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. As for maritime borders, it borders Panama,

Nicaragua, Colombia and Ecuador. It has 5,163,068 inhabitants according to its latest

demographic projection. Its capital, political and economic center is San José, and its official

language is Spanish.

In many respects, Costa Rica is a success story in terms of development. Considered an

upper-middle-income country, Costa Rica has experienced sustained economic growth for the

past 25 years. This progress is the result of an outward-oriented growth strategy, based on

openness to foreign investment, as well as progressive trade liberalization. Costa Rica is also a

world leader thanks to its environmental policies and achievements, which have helped the

country build its Green Brand. The innovative Payment for Environmental Services program has

been successful in promoting the conservation of forests and biodiversity; making Costa Rica the

only tropical country in the world that has reversed deforestation. According to him[CITATION

Ban20 \l 9226 ] Costa Rica has been promoting all these renewable energies since the middle of

the last century for two very heavy reasons: to depend less on the oil-producing countries and to

conserve its splendid environment.

 Brand proposal: Energy Bike.

Ecological exercise bike, the perfect combination of sport, wellness and clean energy

generation. Designed for homes as a complement to the regular electricity supply, it makes it

possible to recharge mobile devices. The intention of this ecological alternative is to form
ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

healthy habits with a simple pedaling and to generate electricity in a more respectful way with

the environment.

The idea of starting in Costa Rica is explained because it is one of the countries in the

region with the highest investment in the area of environmentally friendly products, this exercise

two
bike adapts to the cultural and aspirational environment of the market[CITATION End21 \l 9226 ].

A decade ago the country announced thatwould be carbon neutralby 2021. Now it

announces another goal for the next four years: to be the first country in the world with a

comprehensive national strategy to eliminate single-use plastics (El País, 2017).

 Justification of the product and country chosen based on market research

Taking into account the difficult situation that the world is going through at an

environmental level, due to the different threats of industrialization and all the productive

activities that threaten the sustainability of the environment, and where pollution considerably

affects the quality of life and well-being of the inhabitants of Costa Rica, this stationary bicycle

with ergonomic design and futuristic style, also ecological and energy-generating, would be ideal

for the construction of a healthy and friendly environment with the planet.

Costa Rican culture is mentally prepared to pay well for environmentally friendly

products; In addition to Costa Rica being known for its beaches and great biodiversity, Costa

Rica has an international reputation as an ecological paradise. The country is home to more than

500,000 species of plants and animals. Likewise, Costa Rica is a pioneer in renewable energies,

obtaining 98 percent of its electricity from hydroelectric, biomass, geothermal, wind and solar

energy.
ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

Besides all this it generates savings in the pocket for the citizen; While in Colombia an

average of 60 USD / MWh is paid to electric generators, in Costa Rica the latest purchases from

private generators reached a level of 90.1 USD / MWh[ CITATION BNA20 \l 1033 ].

The Energy Bike bicycle is ideal and suitable for anyone, both children and adults, for

two
use in large or urban spaces.

So our bike has an ideal fit for this country. Given that the government plans to clean the

air in Costa Rica and have the country have a zero carbon footprint by 2050, one way to achieve

both is to encourage Costa Ricans to bike at home and our bike cares. for clean energy and

respects the environment.

Target market

Retailer

Middle-class consumers with environmental awareness and understanding of the need to exercise

to stay healthy. They are people who find an additional source of electricity generation

advantageous in their homes.

Wholesaler

Innovative gyms that can add emissions savings to your business profile.

Public spaces such as shopping centers, airports and parks would benefit from additional

charging points with an additional component of fun. We believe that there is room for the

government itself to promote the product as part of its strategy of less environmental impact.
ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

o Product Strategy

Branding

The name of the brand that we have chosen is ENERGY BIKE, this name refers to

innovative exercise bikes made with the best materials of the moment and conscious about the

two
quality of the product and the well-being of the environment.

characterizes us and gives us a certain advantage since it inspires confidence, calmness and a

learning English, and this is an aspirational feature. These are simple words, with a high

probability of retention[CITATION Top \l 9226 ].

Communication Plan - Advertising

two
We need an advertising strategy so that our product is recognized, we will use social

media, and on top of that we will have a sales agent who will have training on all the

characteristics, information and value of the product. Our goal is that our agent transmits that we

know and understand the way to make the best generator bicycles, with a seal of social and

environmental responsibility. We will also make use of a web site in which we will have all the

necessary information to educate our buyers. It will be available in English and Spanish; our

page would have the following information:

 Home:basic name information and links to access information such as; learn more about

our quality, environmental responsibility, where you will find information on why we are

committed to the environment, general product information and a link to our customers

can quote the product in certain quantities, and we can send you an estimate of prices.

Finally, we will present cases of people who have bought the bike.

 Services: how to access our product general information of interest to the client

information and characteristics of the product

ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

 Contact us: email contact numbers or other means for customer service.

Brand Strategy

Our product will be made with an individual brand strategy, since it creates its own

identity, this facilitates the positioning process.

two
Distribution Channels

It is attractive for a small company like ours to expand to foreign markets. Our product is

manufactured in the place of origin and then exported to Costa Rica. We also want to have

control over our relationship with customers by providing exclusive assistance to them. This

strategy helps us a lot since we can access international markets without the need to face the

complexity of direct export, so there is less investment, less risk and greater flexibility is

achieved.

Export Agent

We will carry out this process with an international cargo agent (ACI), who is in charge

of coordinating and organizing shipments, consolidating export cargo, and receiving documents

related to foreign operations. We will use the company COLTRANS SAS[CITATION Col \l

9226 ],an international cargo company that serves as an intermediary between our company and

customers, which is responsible for placing the products abroad. It provides us with the service

of cargo transport, logistics and warehousing.

Our distribution strategy will be to use the incoterm (CIF) Cost, Insurance and Freight,

since it is the most suitable for our type of product. This method is best for maritime transport.

The seller is responsible for the record and contracting of maritime transport to the port of

destination specified by the buyer. Once onshore the risk will be transferred to the buyer, who is

the beneficiary, in the same way he must carry out the export customs clearance the seller.

Regarding the risk of loss or damage to the merchandise, it will be passed on to the buyer

when the merchandise is at the port of shipment. The buyer must also carry out the import
ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

customs clearance, and pay all expenses generated from the moment the seller delivers the goods

to the point of destination.

Figure 8. CIF.

Selective Distribution Strategy

Through this strategy, the satisfaction of the needs that customers require will be

analyzed, taking into account costs, time, product quality, etc.

We chose a selective distribution strategy, focusing on sports outlets and business-to-

business placement. This delivers the guidelines that companies require when moving the

product from one place to another. Under this strategy we select the best points of sale for our

product in each area of Costa Rica. Thus, we will allow ourselves to differentiate by placing our

product in selected sites.

Advantage
ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

 Best selling points

 Mass distribution of the product is avoided (which would be more expensive)

 Generates recognition of the brand and the product

 Selected public

two
Competition Analysis

It is known that one of the main objectives of our company is to contribute to caring for

the environment, which would also position the country as a pioneer in Latin America, and an

example for many companies to start giving opportunities to sustainable products. With the rise

of collaborative mobility startups, the range of options has widened and “sharing” has become

the fashionable surname for almost any vehicle.

 Ozone Drive: Spanish company that offers electric vehicles for all tourists in

collaboration with the BMW company. (Europe)

 Ecoche: It is a company dedicated to the transformation of combustion vehicles to pure

electric vehicles, formed by a multidisciplinary, dynamic and committed team whose way

of working is based on collaboration. Our products are customized for each client and

situation, focusing our work on the benefit of the users. (Europe)

 Passion Motor Bike: Create a mix between scooter and small van with sustainable

materials. (Europe)

 Evovelo: They produce a hybrid between car and bicycle, a solar vehicle whose driver

does not need to have a driving license. (Europe)

 EOS Green: Conventional to Electric Bicycles (Colombia)

ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

These companies being all European or Colombian [ CITATION Sta19 \l 9226 ]. It should be

mentioned that none of them bring a private benefit for the customer (such as battery recharge, in

our case).

Identification of competitor strategies

two
The strategies of the brands that compete within this market are:

 That their purpose is the care for the environment and sustainability, letting the client

know this by all means, web pages, social media, etc.

 Making their product known at fairs such as those held in the destination country (Costa

Rica), eg Expo Bici.

 Use of raw materials sourced locally in the case of European companies.

 That its differential point is that there are not many companies that produce this type of

products worldwide.

Requirements of The Destination Country

The conditions for trading in Costa Rica are aimed at attracting investors. Import duties

two
(Import Tariffs (DAI)) are paid to the Ministry of Finance. DAI ranges are between 1% and 15%,

depending on the classification of the products. In addition to DAI, imports are also subject to a

general sales tax of 13%, as well as the additional fee of 1% for the CIF value (cost, insurance,

freight).

Packaging

Following our Eco-friendly methodology, an efficient and innovative packaging is made,

with an internal fixing system entirely in corrugated cardboard, the elements of the bicycle

remain fixed and do not move or scratch. There are specific departments for each component of

the bike, so that they do not touch each other. Thus, we make sure that the bicycle arrives in

perfect condition at our final destination. The areas most exposed to shocks are covered with

biodegradable mushroom packaging, everything goes in a double channel box with air filling.

Each and every one of the packaging components is made of recycled and recyclable cardboard,

so we align the packaging with the customer's product, which is committed to sustainability.

Justification of Distribution Strategies

The creation of communication channels must be taken into account, they must be

efficient and effective, which allows for recognition of the company and a good position of the
ENERGY BIKE- EXPORT PROJECT

products in the Costa Rica market. The use of social media and our website will help us to have a

close relationship with our followers. There we will have the possibility to transmit information

about our brand, answer questions, make suggestions, process and resolve possible complaints

and even create a link between Energy Bike and our customers. The consulting agent will be an

two
additional support to our brand, giving details and specifications of Energy Bike, and also

providing an after-sales service.

Justification of Distribution Channels

We chose an indirect export method since our production is currently manufactured near

Bogotá, and the idea is that it reaches the Costa Rica market. We are open to the possibility of

adjusting our product to the customer's needs over time. Since we are still in a growth stage, this

type of distribution channel suits us to reach this international market, where we are not going to

face the complexity of direct export, so there is less investment, less risk and greater flexibility.
