INTRODUCTION

Confectionery is the art of making confections, which are food items that are rich

in sugar and carbohydrates. In general though confectionery is divided into two

broad namely; bakers’ confection and sugar confections. Bakers’ confections also

called flour confections include bread, meat pie, chin chin, puff puff, samosa, egg

roll, fish roll etc.

Sugar confections on the other hand include cakes, chocolates, pastries etc.

Abuja being the capital of the biggest black Nation, is surely a huge market for

baking and confectioneries to thrive since they it always hot in demand for various

events ranging from birthday celebrations, marriage ceremonies, house warming

parties, annivasaries etc.

One mind blowing thing about baking and confectionaries is, it’s always handy,

dosen’t take time to prepare and very affordable for all and sundry, and can be

consumed by almost every age group hence our customers aren’t restricted to a

particular clique.

In a bid to meet the intended purpose of being a leading brand in baking and

confectionaries in Nigeria and Africa, Mukhtar’s kitchen is bent on maximizing

profit during the nursery stages of it’s existence. Instead pulling and maintaining
enough customers, paying workers well and as at when due and making the brand a

household name happens to be the ultimate goal.

We have decided to start up this business during the festive periods of December

when our commodities are in high demand, to make sure the goals are being

reached almost immediately, we have also established contacts with the biggest

fast foods in town to supply them the best delicacies, albeit a slashed rate, that’s to

keep them, of course the prices will be set a particular standard as time goes by.

QUALITY CONTROL

To maintain quality control, we’ll operate in a very hygienic environment which

will be under constant supervision from the Standard Organization of Nigeria

(SON) who have always given us kudos because of the efforts we put in to make

sure our products are safe for consumption. We also have endorsement from

NAFDAC. To be on the safe side, we plan to go into production of ingredients like

flour, butter, yeast etc to make sure our products aren’t substandard. We also hired

the best hands when it comes to skilled and unskilled workforce, refreshed courses,

seminars, workshops, are carried out at intervals to keep with the best brands out

there.

Personally as a brand owner, I always attend union meetings where we put head

together to make sure we maintain quality in tandem with government laws.

BUSINESS STRUCTURE

The company will be situated at Lobito Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja. Here we have

been able to erect a bakery and confectionery house which cost about 5 million

naira and also made purchases of Kitchen utensils like oven, gas cooker and

electric cookers, knead etc and raw materials like egg, flour, yeast, etc in bulk.

There will also be provision for glass shelves, administrative block, delivery van,

staff bus, staff quarters etc.

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

Balance brought forward N7,000,000

Cost of erecting the buildings; admin block, bakery, staff quarters cost roughly 3.5

million naira.

Purchases of equipment, utensils, machines, raw materials like flour, yeast,

groundnut oil etc were at 2 million naira.

Purchase of two vehicles cost 1 million naira.

Now, we have a balance of a million naira which will be used to pay staff for a

year and half plus miscellaneous expenses.

Given the fact that we plan to officially open during the festive period, there is a

proposed plan that no matter how bad it gets we won’t record any loss instead there

will be a recoup in the money invested.

MARKETING

Marketing is a very vital part of business, marketing can never be over

emphasized in the world of business be it an already booming venture or an

amateur.

Therefore, as a new brand in the world of baking and confectioneries, we’ve done

a thorough market survey to ascertain the prices at which other brands are selling,

upon the completion of this; we plan to be selling at a much reduced rate plus other

mind blowing incentives, giveaways, bonanza to attract as many customers as

possible.

The use of mass media isn’t left out as we have already produced stickers, flyers

posters etc we’ve also mobilized people that will go to every nook and cranny of

the town with music playing on pick up cars to create awareness, television

channels, radio stations, newspapers and magazines are also to be exploited by the

marketing department of our organization.

Money comes to mind, business no matter how small it is can never flourish

without finance and finance properly applied.

Personal savings, money realized from family, friends and well wishers have been

put together, we have also been able to secure loan from the government through

the SME act and then presented our business plan to some banks asking for a loan,
we realized huge sums, they saw reasons with us because we are going into the

production of essential commodities during a festive period, so there was a

guarantee they would make their money back almost immediately, coupled with

huge interest.

Taxation isn’t left out because we are going to hire a financial auditor to do the

necessary work.

RISK MANAGEMENT; Aduku’s kitchen secured and has invested a lot into the

business, therefore in case of any bad occurrence our insurance plan has got us

covered.

PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT; It’s a fast paced world and as the business

keeps growing, efforts must be put in place so the brand doesn’t lag behind. High

productivity is always expected and to achieve this we must keep developing,

hence, regular invitation of experts in every department of the company for

workshops, seminars, lectures, etc to improve output of the workforce and on the

part CEO’s; educational tours, attending expos, constant liaise with other brand

owners, good salary scale, incentives, healthy relationship between staff and bosses

all for the sole aim of constant development.

Personnel development also involves social, emotional, mental, physical and

spiritual growth. All done in the right proportion will definitely maximize

production.
