Objectives
Upon completion of the lesson, the learners are expected
to:
 Define and identify line.
 Recognize and differentiate the types of lines.
 Define and identify shape.
 Recognize and differentiate the types of shapes
 Learn and apply in an activity about two of the
seven Elements of Arts: Line and Shape.

C. Materials Projector and Laptop.
III. Procedure
A. Drill  Prayer

The teacher will ask one of the students to lead the

prayer.
 Greetings

The teacher will greet the students and the

students will respond.
 Attendance

The students will say ‘present’ whenever their

names will be called.
B. Motivation  Review of the previous lesson

The teacher will ask the students of what they can

recall of their previous lesson.
 The teacher will show a video. The students have
to follow the steps shown on the presentation and
as much as possible familiarized the shapes
shown.
IV. Lesson
Proper
A. Discussion  Through the use of PowerPoint presentation the
teacher will start the lesson by defining Lines and
its types.

DEFINITION OF LINE:
Line is the most basic element of art. Without line,
some of the other elements don’t exist. A line can
be thought of as a moving dot. If the dots
overlapped, it’s a solid line, if it doesn’t, it’s a
dotted line. A line has a beginning and an end and
by its existence, creates an edge.

TYPES OF LINE:

1. Vertical lines – are straight up and down lines

that move in space without slanting.
2. Horizontal lines – are straight lines that moves
parallel to the horizon. These are those lines
that are from right to left or left to right.
3. Diagonal lines – are straight lines that are
slanting in any direction apart from horizontal
and vertical directions.
4. Zigzag line – is just a series of diagonal lines
connected at the ends. The diagonal lines in a
zigzag line can move in any direction apart from
vertical and horizontal.
5. Curved line – is a line that bends and changes
direction slowly. It can either be wavy or spiral
depending on the object.

 Through the use of PowerPoint presentation the

teacher will then introduce shapes and its types.
DEFINITION OF SHAPE:
When a line meets up to enclose a space, a shape
is formed. It is an enclosed space, the boundaries
of ehich are defined by other elements of art (lines,
colors, values, textures, etc.) shapes are limited to
two-dimensions: length and width.

TWO TYPES OF SHAPES:

1. Geometric Shapes – have the clear edges one
achieves when using tools to create them. These
shapes are circles, squares, triangles, pentagon,
and so on.

2. Organic Shapes – are shapes with a natural look

and a flowing and curving appearance. These
shapes are typically irregular and asymmetrical.
The teacher will relate their motivational activity to
the topic by determining which part of the
students’ works were the elements used.
B. Guided Ask the students for a piece of paper and let them
Question write their questions and clarifications of the topic.
Collect their papers and answer their questions.
The teacher will present on her PowerPoint
Presentation different lines and shapes. And the
students has to determine if the shown pictures
are vertical line, horizontal line, diagonal line,
curved line, zigzag line, geometric shape, or
organic shape.
V. Assessment
With the use of the PowerPoint presentation, the
teacher will show the questions for the assessment
one after another on Part I and II identification
with a minimum time of 1 minute per questions.
And 5 minutes or more for Part III: Matching Type.
Part I: Identification
Provide the correct answer of the following questions.
1. This element of art can be thought of as a moving
dot. If the dots overlapped, it’s a solid line, if it
doesn’t, it’s a dotted line.
2. This type of shape has the clear edges one
achieves when using tools to create them. These
shapes are circles, squares, triangles, pentagon,
and so on.
3. This is a type of line that bends and changes
direction slowly. It can either be wavy or spiral
depending on the object. It is a dot that takes a
walk.
4. These types of line are straight lines that are
slanting in any direction apart from horizontal and
vertical directions.
5. This is a type of line which is a series of diagonal
lines connected at the ends.

Part II: Identification

Identify the following pictures if it is a geometric shape or
an organic shape.

9.

10.

Part III: Matching Type

Match the pictures in type A on its corresponding
answers in type B.
Type A Type B
11. a. Horizontal line

b. Vertical line
12.
c. Diagonal line

13.
d. Zigzag line

14.
e. Curved line

15.

At the end of the quiz, the teacher will reveal the

answer and the students will exchange papers and
check the papers they will have.
VI. Homework/
Assignment
On a short bond bond paper, draw or illustrate
something using the different types of shapes and lines.
You can also cut out shapes and lines to paste on your
bond papers. Be creative and imaginative. The student
with more creative output will have a well-deserve grade.
This will be passed the day after this assignment will be
given.
