ELICIT

https://ourplanet.ph/shareourplanet
After watching the video clip provided, we can define the
word biodiversity. Biodiversity is the term that represents
the total variety of all life on Earth. The total biodiversity of
our planet is eminence. Which is said to be a good thing,
because the more biodiversity-the more secure our life on
Earth is, including ourselves. Only when life is at its most
varied, vigorous, biodiverse, we can hope to thrive. We may
not know it, but we need the forests to make the climate
stable, we need millions of pollinators, billions of soil
organisms and megatons of sea organisms to keep the
food we eat available. Even the strange plants in jungle are
needed to create medicines. Our planet’s biodiversity
provides all the things we need for free. But biodiversity is
dropping in different parts of the world. And this is
catastrophic to nature and therefore, to ourselves. Let us
help stop the loss of lives and instead increase Earth’s
biodiversity.

In one of your academic class, you are assigned to look
into the biodiversity of Romblon, Romblon and determine
what category of animals (mammals, reptiles, amphibians,
fishes, and birds) has the most and the least number.
Within a minute, name all of the animal species that are

ENGAGE After the activity:
Probing- Asking open ended questions to develop
higher order thinking skills.

Reflect on the responses.

Stating the importance of statistical processes.
Guide questions:
1. What do these raw data represent?
2. Can we get a clear and precise information
immediately as we look at these data?
3. How can we make these data’s meaningful?
D. Discussing new concepts and (PowerPoint Presentation- Lecture Discussion)

E. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #2 Discussing data organization and its importance.
EXPLORE -Raw data cannot give clear and precise information
immediately as we look at it. That is why, we organize it in a
way that it can be easily read and interpreted.

Organizing the collected data from the activity based on

their category using the frequency table.

-One way to organize data is by using tables/frequency

tables.
-A frequency table is a tally of the number of times a
data value occurs. It shows clear and definite information
about a set of data. The table is constructed by tallying or
counting the number of times a data value occurs. The
number of occurrences of data value is called frequency.
The table is divided into three columns: Category/Interval,
Tally, and Frequency.

Enumerating the steps in constructing the Frequency

Distribution Table
-The following are the steps in constructing a Frequency
Distribution Table.
1. Construct a table with 3 columns.
2. Name the columns: Category/Interval, Tally, and
Frequencies.
3. In the first column, write down all of the data values
grouped by category or by intervals with the same column
width.
4. Complete the second column, go to the list of data
values and place one tally mark at the appropriate place in
the second column.
5. Count the number of tally marks for each lateral and
write the count on the third column.

Using our raw data from our activity “Name Me in a Minute

Challenge”, our frequency distribution will look like this:
(*Note-The tally and frequencies may vary based on the
student’s response.)

2. Which category has the least number of species?

3. What might happen on the next generation if we do

not value our biodiversity?

Follow-up questions during output presentation:

1. What age bracket has the most number of COVID-
19 confirmed cases?
Answer: The age bracket that has the most number of
COVID-19 confirmed cases is ages 20-29.

2. What age bracket has the least number of COVID-19

confirmed cases?
Answer: The age bracket that has the least number of
