8.3 VIDEO DEMONSTRATION

A. Flammability

Observation [1 point each]

Burning of Paper When the paper is burned it slowly turned

into ash, entirely new substances like carbon
dioxide, water vapor, smoke and ash are
formed. Hence, burning of paper is a
chemical change.

When the block was burned, oxygen and

other elements in the air (mainly carbon,
hydrogen and oxygen) react to form carbon
Burning of a block dioxide that is released into the atmosphere,
while the minerals turn into ashes.
B. Conductivity

Observation [1 point each]

Distilled water Distilled water is not an electricity conductor,

when it was tested, the tester with the light
bulb did not lit so basically it isn’t a
conductor.

NaCl solution The salt water or the NaCl solution is a good

conductor, when it was tested the light bulb
lit up very bright.

Sugar solution The sugar solution is not an electrical

conductor because when it was tested the
light bulb in the tester did not lit.

The Ethanol is not a conductor because

when it was tested the light bulb tester did
Ethanol not even lit up, hence it is not an electricity
conductor.

The Vinegar or weak acid is a weak

electricity conductor, because when it was
Vinegar tested the light bulb tester lit but with only
low brightness.
8.4 HOME EXPERIMENT

A. Volatility

Observation [1 pt.each] Picture (before after), [1 point each]

When I put the water on

the plate it was there,
Water after 10mins. Of setting
it aside the shape of the
water remains.

Before

After
When I dropped the
acetone liquid on the
plate the texture was
watery but when I set it
Nail polish remover/acetone aside and had a look at
it the next 10mins., the
liquid disappeared and
it left a watermark on
the plate.

After
B. Solubility

Observation [1 pt.each] Picture (before & after), [1 point each]

Cooking oil + Water Before, the oil did not

dissolve in water. After few
minutes of observation,
still it did not dissolve in
water.

Before

After
Salt + Water

Few seconds starting the

observation the salt sank
down to the bottom of the
cup, then few minutes after
it dissolved.

Before

After
C. Denaturation

Observation [1 pt.each] Picture [1 pt.each]

Raw egg The egg white is a clear

and slimy liquid and the
Egg yolk is a yellow and
slimy liquid.

Cooked egg The egg white is now in a

solid state of matter and
has the color of white and
the egg yolk is still yellow
in color but now solid in
texture.
