1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Brief description of the Report

This document contains information on the concrete design mix to be used for general concrete structures
and water-retaining structures. Concrete design mixing involves a preparatory process in which a mixture of
ingredients creates the necessary strength and durability for the concrete structure. Because each ingredient
in the mix has different properties, making a great concrete mix is not an easy task. All ingredients must be
tested for their physical, mechanical and chemical properties.

The ingredients to be tested: water, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, cement, chemical, and mineral
admixture.

The values of the physical properties obtained after testing will be used as the basis for all concrete mix design
considerations. This will ensure the structure will be sound and prevent failure of the mix.
1.2 Scope

It is the aim of this document to provide an overview of the guidelines base on the applicable standards and
process involves in the in the preparation of concrete design mix. Starting from determination of strength
requirements, sampling and testing of raw materials, evaluation of test results, and the preparation of the
design mix.

The concrete design mix presented herein are may be modified depending to the values that will satisfy to
the Specification in the actual trial mix.

2 APPLICABLE STANDARDS

The design of the STP shall be governed and guided primarily by the following applicable standards, its
equivalent, or other local standards as applicable:
The
· ACI 211.1-91 Standard Practice for Selecting Proportions for Normal, Heavyweight, And Mass
Concrete
· ACI 318 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete
· DPWH Standard Specification for Public Works and Highways, 2013 edition; Volume II, Highways,
Bridges and Airports
· ASTM C 150 Standard Specification for Portland Cement
· Employer’s Requirements – Hinulugang Taktak STP
