SITUATION DESCRIPTION AND
INITIAL JUDGEMENT
“Musk vs. Buffet, a Solar War in the Desert
Heats” video summary
Information provided in the video “Must vs. Buffet, a Solar War in the
Desert Heats Up”, by Bloomberg. To summarize the content provided in the
video. Nevada is the desert region in the United States. Nevada has 335 days
clear and strong sunlight. People residing in Nevada is using solar energy as
main source of energy to protect the environment and here most of the houses
has installed solar panel on the roof of the house as we can see in the video.
Moreover, due to the high charges of the solar rooftop installation, many

m
people were not in position to afford it. Next, people in Nevada are

er as
co
understanding the importance of the environment, that’s why they are

eH w
conveying the paramount information on the solar rooftop.

o.
rs e
Afterwards, houses who have built solar rooftops are enjoying many
ou urc
benefits from the government policy and have saved lot of money after
successfully installing solar rooftops. SolarCity is the one of the biggest
o

manufacturer companies of the solar roof in the America, came into the
aC s

market and started supplying solar roof at the 0-down payment. SolarCity
v i y re

belongs to Musk business while Nevada energy is the part of Buffet’s business.
Nevada public utilities were facing big loses after the solar roof came into the
existence in the market and giving tough competition. Millions of people were
ed d

opposing to change the charges of the Nevada public electricity. After that both
ar stu

the companies came in strong competition with each other and cause solar
war.
sh is
Th

My initial judgement
I would like to take the side of SolarCity of Elon Musk. SolarCity is providing
the solar rooftops at the 0-down payment. Moreover, Elon Must is providing
solar panels at lower rate in comparison with Buffet’s company Nevada energy.
Benefits which are offered by SolarCity are more attractive, due to which
everyone has started installing solar panels at affordable rates offered by Elon
Must. This not only will save money but is very effective for the environment

also. Solar energy reduces the huge amount of the pollution which is emitted
by the companies supplying energy through coal.

NEVADA NOW
aC s
v i y re

 Nevada produces huge amount of the solar energy, that it is the now 4 th
powerful state in terms of solar energy. Government provided many
benefits to the customers to use renewable source of energy and formed

many policies related to the solar panel usage at the roof top. It has
ar stu

attracted 141 solar companies to do business in Nevada through which

the locals will get employment also. Recently, Nevada public utility

commission has approved a proposed 500-kV power line between

northern and southern Nevada, a move that could increase liquidity in

the Western markets while spurring renewable development.

CONCLUSION
 To recapitulate, Nevada is the state in the Western region of the United
State. Here, you will observe very harsh and powerful sunlight during

products. SolarCity belongs to the Elon Musk business and Nevada
Energy is the part of Warren Buffet business. These two companies are
competing with each other in the Nevada.

REFLECTION
 I personally learned a lot of new things after completing this assignment
(responsibility to the stakeholders). Firstly, I learned many things about
Elon Musk and Warren Buffet. How they became successful and behind
this success they have struggled a lot for this position where they stand

m
er as
today. Moreover, before now I never heard about anything about

co
Nevada, but after starting this assignment I gained many information

eH w
about the Nevada and their policies.

o.
rs e
 Secondly, I learned about SolarCity and Nevada Energy which is owned
ou urc
by Elon Musk and Warren Buffet respectively. How they have provided
good services to customer and provided the solar panel at affordable
rate to attract more people towards solar energy. Whereas, Nevada
o
aC s

public utility hasn’t shown responsibility at the starting towards the

v i y re

public and solar company. Moreover, I understand the various

responsibilities which company has towards the stakeholders and how it
relates to the business activities.
ed d

 Afterwards, I have learned how to access the huge amount of the

ar stu

information from the Seneca library. Similarly, I learned how to access

different features available on the Seneca library website. Last but not
sh is

least, I have developed my research skill to a great extent while

completing this assignment, because I searched a lot about Elon Musk
Th

and Warren Buffet to gather information of their profile.
