ART APPRECIATION

BAFM III-01

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Define Art.
Art is something we do, a verb. Art is an expression of our thoughts, emotions,
intuitions, and desires, but it is even more personal than that: it’s about sharing
the way we experience the world, which for many is an extension of personality.
It is the communication of intimate concepts that cannot be faithfully portrayed by
words alone. And because words alone are not enough, we must find some other
vehicle to carry our intent. But the content that we instill on or in our chosen
media is not in itself the art. Art is to be found in how the media is used, the way
in which the content is expressed. Arts is one of the thing that mesmerize our
physical, intellectual and spiritual feelings. Arts can be form in so many ways, but
one thing's for sure is that it ameliorate our heart.

2. Differentiate Beauty with Aesthetics?

Beauty is the ascription of a property or characteristic to a
person, object, animal, place or idea that provides a perceptual experience
of pleasure or satisfaction. Beauty is studied as part of aesthetics, culture, social
psychology and sociology. Beauty is a quality constituting the no utilitarian value
of a form, inhering in it as a subtle and hazardous union of the quantitative and
qualitative elements, and discovered with increasing interest and adherence of
the mind. Although the subtlety of its nature, the complexity and persistence of
disputes regarding it, and the radical vicissitudes of the arts have led many of
even the best aestheticians to abandon the word beauty, efforts to distinguish the
phenomenon it denotes continue undiminished.

3. Explain. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

For me, it simply means that beauty is not always all about our outer self rather
about our inner self. Regardless of our differences, as long as we don't criticize
someone else's we can be all beautiful, in our own way. It different people have
different ideas and views about what is beautiful and also not all people have the
same opinions as to what is attractive or beautiful. It's about believing in yourself.
Because if you don't believe in you, no one else will do.

4. Identify the different forms of art?

The different forms of art are Visual Arts, Applied Art and Performing Art. The
Visual Art are art forms such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture,
ceramics, photography, video, filmmaking, design, crafts, and architecture. Many
artistic disciplines such as performing arts, conceptual art, and textile arts also
involve aspects of visual arts as well as arts of other types. The Applied Arts are
all the arts that apply design and decoration to everyday and essentially practical
objects in order to make them aesthetically pleasing. While Performing arts refers

to forms of art in which artists use their voices, bodies or inanimate objects to
convey artistic expression. It is different from visual arts, which is when artists
use paint, canvas or various materials to create physical or static art objects.
