The Kartilya was about lessons that would serve as a guide for me in living a moral and ethical life.

It
was like a code of conduct that demonstrated how to speak and act like a true Filipino. This Kartilya
ng Katipuan, I believe, shows me the way to live a meaningful life. Each lesson is distinct in that it
addresses various parts of my life. The first emphasizes the importance of living a purposeful life.
“The life of a Katipunero without a purpose is a pointless life.” This notion encapsulates the essence
of life. Life is a gift that should be cherished by making it meaningful by creating objectives and
accomplishing them, no matter how difficult they may be.

The second guideline is to always do the right thing. “A deed done just for the purpose of gaining
fame is unworthy of praise. Everyone should remember that doing good must be accompanied by
humility. A good deed must be done because it is something that someone truly wants to do to help
others. The third demonstrates what true kindness entails. “A Katipunero's true act of compassion is
in the love and service he provides to others, not the other way around.” It simply means that
offering a helping hand without asking anything in return is one of the best ways to demonstrate
kindness.

The fourth rule emphasizes human equality. “No matter what race or educational background a
Katipuneros possesses, he is treated equally. People will never be treated unequally because of their
status or identity. Nobody deserves to be discriminated against, whether they are Filipinos or not,
rich or poor, men or women, white or black. The Fifth exemplifies what it means to be a Katipunero.
“A real Katipunero prioritizes honor over personal gain.” The sixth point is about following through
on the "walk the talk" principle, or putting words into action that have been promised. “A
Katipunero with a feeling of shame must be a man who keeps his promises.”

Because time is as valuable as gold, the seventh rule emphasizes how we manage our time and give
our all as though tomorrow will never come. “Time is very important to a Katipunero. A moment lost
will never be regained for the Katipunan.” The eighth lesson simply instructs everyone to fight for
what is right and to fight alongside those who are on the right side of the issue. “A Katipunero must
defend the oppressed and fight for those who oppress the oppressed.” The ninth is on the
importance of trust, and how everyone must be able to preserve confidential information in order to
maintain the trust that others have placed in them. “A Katipunero is careful with his words and
keeps what ought to be kept hidden.”

The ability to lead the family is the eighth principle. “A Katipunero is responsible for steering his
family in the proper direction. If the leader succumbs to evil, his followers will as well.” The eleventh
emphasizes all a guy must consider when it comes to a woman's individuality. “Women must be
valued by a Katipunero. He must not see her as an object, nor should he regard time. That a
Katipunero will remember his mother, who nourished him, anytime he sees a woman.” The twelfth
principle emphasizes the importance of every action taken. “A Katipunero should not do anything he
does not want done to him.” The thirteenth rule concerns one's understanding of how to interact
with life in a proper manner. A Katipuneros' life is not defined by his social level or the possessions
he possesses. Instead, it's in his character and his attachment to his homeland. The author's desire is
depicted in The Last. It emphasizes the hope he has for everyone and believes that every sacrifices
that a Katipunero make will always be worth it.
