Food Addiction: Craving the Truth About Food | Andrew Becker

1. What are the main points of the speaker and what are your thoughts about these ideas?
Andrew Becker talked about how food addiction can affect our health. He tackles the complex,
poorly understood issue of food addiction from the perspectives of many people. Who are very
addicted to highly palatable and unhealthy foods as their comfort food.
He argues that we can be addicted to food in the same way we can be addicted to heroin, and that
food companies are taking advantage of our wallets, bodies, and mental health.
My thoughts about these ideas, the most relevant health topic today, the obesity crisis, are
perfectly explained. It is interesting, enlightening, and makes total sense. Food (processed food)
addiction is still not taken seriously, but with the help of this, you can take it seriously yourself
and get control of your life.
Food is our primal survival mechanism but we can’t deny that most of us enjoy food the are high
in fat and sugar for any reason, we believe that Some of us eat too much regardless of physical or
pleasure we tend to eat as much as we can, but one thing is sure, that foods may satisfy our
cravings but they can affect our health seriously. So must learn how to limit the junks that we eat
and start to live healthily.

2. How did the video discussion shape your perspective as an education leader, expert
practitioner, and research scholar?

I have always loved candy, cake, pie, and chips, burgers and on many occasions, these are the
things I substituted for my regular meals. I got away with it for years because I had always been
pretty skinny as a kid and it didn’t seem to have much of an effect on me but after watching this
video I realized that I have to change these habits, maybe now I cannot see the results of being
palatable food lover but I know time will come that I will pay for what I did to my body and
before that thing happen I have to do something to change this, I have to live healthier than
before. Many people suffer from being obese before they realize that they need a proper diet and
exercise. For those who would say that it is a "trigger" then I would suggest that for most people
who are food addicts or compulsive eaters, that in real life, we have to learn to live around foods
that are not ours. For me, the solution is found in making the foods that I do eat so delicious and
filling and nutritious that "cravings" come and go, but I do not have to give in to them. Not just
satisfy cravings but also satisfy our health.
3. Provide a connection/link between the speaker’s arguments and the course outcomes of
our course/subject.

Food may fulfill our hunger but we need to eat nutritiously as much as possible. We need to plan
the meal we have to eat in a day. And just prepare the right amount of food so that we can avoid
eating too much.

Avoid eating Palatable food instead look for the food pyramid for the food you want to prepare
to get balance nutrients that your body needs, in that case, we can avoid obesity.
Explore the pleasure of eating as well as its dangers. It is helpful to understand why food is
enjoyable and how that pleasure can overwhelm us.
