    Materials: bond paper, cylindrical bottle, compass

    1. A flashlight shines on a wall, as shown in the figure. What is the shape of the boundary of the lighted
    area? Explain your answer.

    Ellipse shape. Because the flashlight reflection looks like an elongated circle which is oval.

    2. Get a piece of bond paper and wrapped around a cylindrical bottle, and then use a compass to draw a
    circle on the paper, as shown in the figure. When the paper is laid flat, is the shape drawn on the
    paper an ellipse? Explain your findings. (Provide a documentation of your output and kindly attach it
    below)
