00:00:00 Hi I’m Millie Ray Double here with
the Lunch- time headlines A recent
down spiral has occurred within
teenager’s mental health due to
the use of social media. It has been
shown to effect young people in
many different ways such as lack of
their self-esteem leading onto
depression, anxiety and can cause
lack of sleep. It is proven that 90%
of young people aged between 14-
24 have at least one social media
platform, and some say these
social media platforms can be
more addictive than drugs and
alcohol.
00:00:01:07 Some young people may find
themselves on these platform’s
constantly and can be harder to
get away from it. As well as it being
draining it can also cause and form
unhealthy habits such as
comparing yourself to other
people’s lives and body images.
Being on social media means you
are always connected online which
can lead to the feeling of needing
to always be in touch with others
which can cause sometimes cause
loneliness and anxiety our reporter
Sophie got the opportunity to
interview a student let’s see what
they had to say…
00:00:02:02
In other news seeing how
winter is approaching it is
important to still stay active
and do daily activities, this is
being advised to prevent
Seasonal affective disorder also
known as “winter depression”
this occurs only in the winter
with the darker and colder
days, some people may be
affected worse than others. The
symptoms of SAD to look out
for consist of a low constant
mood, no motivation, more
tired than normal and weight
gain and loss. You should most
definitely consider getting in
touch and seeing your local GP
if you find any of these
symptoms above relate to you.
The causes of SAD if often
linked with
the lack of sunlight which causes a
low production of serotonin.
Treatments found most effective
within research are talking
therapies, light therapies, and
medication.

Over the past decade people have
begun to wonder why Hollywood
isn’t coming up with any new,
original films as they keep re
making and reusing the same
ideas.  Let’s go over our reporter
