Welcome to the Computer Systems Servicing NCII (CSS) Alternative Delivery

Mode (ADM) Module on Install Operating System and Device Drivers.

This module was designed, developed and reviewed by educators both from
public institution to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners
meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal,
social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and
independent learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also
aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the
body of the module:

What is It

Installing a Windows 10 Operating System using a USB Flash

Drive

Windows Operating System installation can be intimidating for some.

However, understanding the process as well as reading and following the steps
provided on the lesson can minimize if not totally remove it.

Windows 10 is a series of “Operating Systems” developed by Microsoft and

released as part of its Windows NT family of operating systems. It is the successor
to Windows 8.1, released nearly two years earlier, and was released to
manufacturing on July 15, 2015, and broadly released for the general public on
July 29, 2015.

Installation Steps

1. Attach the USB Flash Drive with a Bootable Windows 10 Operating System to
your computer’s USB port.
2. Power-on your computer then access your BIOS menu and set the Boot
Order/Priority, making the first device to boot your USB.

2. USB Set to

CSS 11: Install Device Drivers
2 and Updates

Device Driver is a group of files that enables one or more hardware

devices to communicate with the computer’s Operating System.

The Windows Operating System includes device drivers and has the
feature to automatically update them. Some of these “Drivers” however, may not be
up to date depending on the version or edition of Operating System you use thereby
making them incompatible with the more recently made computer hardware
available. Thus, there is the need to know how to update or install drivers for new
devices installed on the computer after the Operating System installation.

Windows update: A Microsoft service for the Windows 9x and Windows

NT families of operating system, which automates downloading and installing
Microsoft Windows software updates over the Internet is called?

Device driver needed

1. To check if a device driver is missing or not installed on a computer, simply go to

your “device manager” by typing it on your search bar.
