LESSON TOPIC:     The Illuminati

OBJECTIVES:
Language:
     Students will:
● Explore the background of the Illuminati.
● Define words in context to the Illuminati.
● Construct an understanding of new vocabulary and what the terms mean

Content:
     Students will:
● Recall terms in reference to the Illuminati
● Investigate into the significance of the Illuminati
● Analyze the background and history of the Illuminati and what its importance is
today.

LEARNING STRATEGIES:     


●  Visual:
○ Students will watch a video, along with the slideshow presentation.
● Kinesthetic:
○ Complete a worksheet where they actively write
○ Write on a whiteboard for Fact vs Fiction game
● Auditory:
○ Students will listen to vocabulary terms presented through the lesson
○ Students will listen to a video during the lesson
● Social:
○ Students will work as a team to play the Fact or Fiction Game
● Independent:
○ Students will individually answer the questions ‘Do you believe the Illuminati is still
around, why or why not?’ and ‘Who do you believe is in the Illuminati?’
○ Students will individually complete the crossword puzzle

MOTIVATION:
(Building background)
● Post, read, and explain the content and language objectives of this lesson to students.
● Students will watch a short video about the background in reference to the Illuminati.
● During the video, students will write down interesting facts coming from the video.

PRESENTATION:
(Language and content objectives, comprehensible input, strategies, interaction, feedback)
●      Present key vocabulary terms to students and have them practice going over them
through activities.

PRACTICE AND APPLICATION:


● Students will be broken up into groups where they will partake in a Fact or Fiction game
where they write on a whiteboard whether or not they believe the information on the
board is fact or fiction.
● Students will individually answer the questions ‘Do you believe the Illuminati is still
around, why or why not?’ and ‘Who do you believe is in the Illuminati?’. Answers will be
written on exit slips and turned in.
     
REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT:
(Review objectives and vocabulary, assess learning)
● One student will read back the objective and another will answer if they believed we
reached our goal.
● Students will complete a handout sheet to review vocabulary learned throughout the
lesson. Worksheet will be reviewed in class.

EXTENSION:
● Students will participate in a Kahoot game.
