ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Shin Godzilla was directed by Hideaki Anno
and Shinji Higuchi. Hideaki is a Japanese animator
and filmmaker. He was born in Ube, Yamaguchi on
May 22, 1960. His parents are Fumiko and Takuya
Anno. Hideaki started his career while attending at
Osaka University of Arts as an animator for the anime
series The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Some
of his work that he directed are
Gunbuster (1988), Nadia: The Secret of Blue
Water (1990), Kare Kano (1998), Love &
Pop (1998), Shiki-Jitsu (2000), Cutie
Honey (2004), Re: Cutie Honey (2004) and Rebuild of
Evangelion (2007–2021). Hideaki won a lot of award from his work.
Some of this are from his movie Shin Godzilla such as The 90 th Kinema
Junpo Awards, The 38th Yokohama Film Festival, The 40th Japan
Academy Prize and The 26th Tokyo Sports
Film Award.

Godzilla is Shinji Higuchi. He is a storyboard
artist, particularly in anime, and one of the
top special effects supervisors in Japan, best
known in the west for his work on Shusuke
Kaneko's Gamera trilogy in the 1990s. He
works on both anime and tokusatsu projects.
Higuchi was born in Tokyo, Japan on
September 22, 1965. Some of his Notable work are Gamera: Guardian
of the Universe, Neon Genesis, Evangelion, Sinking of Japan and Attack
on Titan.

INTRODUCTION OF THE MOVIE

The film Shin Godzilla also known as Shin Gojira or Godzilla
Resurgence is a 1hr and 59mins film that was released on July 29,
2016. The genre of this film are sci-fi, super natural and political that
revolves about a giant creature spotted at the sea. It can evolve into a
bigger monster creature that destroys a big area of Tokyo Japan and
killed so many lives of people living in Japan. It also shows how the
government of Japan dealt with this problem.

SUMMARY OF THE MOVIE

An investigation is carried out on an abandoned yacht near
Tokyo Bay when an unknown incident occurred. Japan cabinet
members immediately hold an emergency assembly to take action on
the said incident. Various possible reasons have been given by the
cabinet member but only Yaguchi, the deputy chief cabinet secretary
gave the theory that the main cause of the incident was because of a
living creature. His theory was confirmed when news report shows a
gigantic tail appeared from the ocean. After a while, the creature
moves inland and crawls in to the Kamata District of Tokyo in the
middle of an evacuation. The creature left a trace of destruction and so
much casualties. Then the creature begins to evolve into a bipedal
red-skinned form before it begins to overheat and returns to the sea.
As the creature was now silently at sea, the government officials
begins to focus on military strategy and for safety of the citizens while
Yaguchi was put in charge of a task force to have some research bout
the creature. Because of the high radiation that they saw, they thought
that it was energized by nuclear fission. The U.S sends a special envoy,
Kayoco Anne Patterson. She revealed about Goro Maki, a disgraced,
vehemently anti-nuclear zoology professor who studied the mutation
caused by the radioactive contamination and theorized the
appearance of the creature but the American and Japanese scientific
circle did not believe on him. Because of that, the US prevented him on
making his conclusion public. The yacht that was investigated on the
first scene was Maki’s yacht where they found his research notes,
jumbled into code, in it before disappearing.
After the discovery of Maki’s research note, they finally know
the name of the creature which is Godzilla or Gojira in its Japanese
name. Godzilla reappears and now doubled in its original size. The
Japan Self-Defense mobilize but their attacks have no effect to Godzilla
and they are forced to withdraw attacking on it. The U.S intervenes
with the plan of firing a destructive air strike to Godzilla and because
of that they encourage the citizen as well as the government
personnel to evacuate the area that will be affected by the air strike.
The U.S has already carried out the attack to Godzilla and wounded
him but also recovered immediately and responds with highly
destructive atomic rays fired from its mouth and dorsal plates which
hit and destroy the helicopter carrying the top government officials,
and all of the bB-2s, as well as incinerating and irradiating large
swaths of Tokyo. Yaguchi’s team found out that the plates and blood
of Godzilla works as a cooling system and also found out that they
could use a coagulating agent to freeze it. The UN was aware of this
and inform Japan that they will use thermonuclear weapon against
Godzilla if the Japanese fail on their plan of attacking Godzilla.
Evacuation was ordered for the preparation of the nuclear attack.
Anne Patterson make a move as she don’t want to see Japan exploded
again by nuclear weapons. Thus, she make an effort to buy time for
Yaguchi’s team by using her political connections.
Yaguchi’s team make successful as they decoded Goro Maki’s
encoded research. They adjust their plan and get the means to
conduct their deep freeze plan with international support. Hours
before the planned nuclear attack, Japan enacts the deep freeze plan.
Godzilla is provoked into expending its atomic breath and energy
against American drones. The team put explosives in building that are
near in the area of Godzilla. They also put explosives on train that will
attack to Godzilla’s feet and will explode that knocks the monster. As
Godzilla fell down, they immediately bring the tankers full of
coagulant and inject it to Godzilla’s mouth. Although many of them
were killed during the process, they were able to freeze Godzilla. After
the fight against Godzilla, they discover that Godzilla fallout has a very
short half-life and that Tokyo can soon be reconstructed. The
international community agrees to cancel the nuclear attack but has
the new Japanese government agree that, in the event of Godzilla's
reawakening, an immediate thermonuclear strike will be executed. On
Godzilla's tail, humanoid creatures appear frozen in the process of
emerging.
