To understand the science behind tall and strong structures, we should know the

different conditions that pertains to the making of the design.

Objects around us have inertia including buildings and towers. These structures resist
change in movement because they are built on a solid surface. Buildings and towers
also have momentum that is equal to zero as they are not in motion.
Our paper tower acts in a point called the center of gravity which is the average weight
of the structure. We purposely created a wider base and a narrower top for the paper
tower to focus its center of gravity towards the base.
This helps in maintaining the equilibrium which is the condition where a structure is
balanced and in a state of rest due to the equal action of opposing forces. This is
needed for our paper tower to maintain stability for it not to collapse.
The stability plays an important role in maintaining strength and rigidity. It is the ability of
the body to restore to its original position. With this, the paper tower would be able to
resist and recover from strong winds that can cause a collapse within the structure.
The structural integrity is the ability of a structure to withstand its intended load without
failing due to deformation or fracture. We decided to fold our paper into a cylindrical
shape to increase the structural integrity of the paper tower which is also applied to its
wide base as it will distribute load to the structure by making it more stable.
