The Battle Of Surabaya
The Battle of Surabaya was a battle of

November 10, 1945. This battle was
the first war between Indonesian

Proclamation of Indonesian
Independence and one of the biggest
and heaviest battles in the history of
the Indonesian National Revolution

Indonesia’s resistance to colonialism.
[2] After this battle was strong, the

was getting stronger. November 10 is
celebrated annually as Heroes’ Day in

Habibie and Indonesian-Made Aircraft

Habibie’s educational history as an engineer began when he studied mechanical engineering

at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia Bandung (now ITB) in 1954. A year
later, he chose to study specialized in aircraft construction at RWTH Aachen University,
West Germany.

After Habibie received his diplomatic degree in 1960, he continued his studies for five years
at RWTH Aachen University. Habibie won a doctorate degree summa cum laude at the
college in 1965.

After that, Habibie worked for several years in the German aviation industry. However,
suddenly President Soeharto sent Ibnu Sutowo to Germany in 1973 to meet Habibie and
conveyed a request that he had a career in Indonesia. A year later Habibie returned to his
homeland.

He was then entrusted with leading the Nurtanio Aircraft Industry Institute (LIPNUR) which
turned into the Nurtanio Aircraft Industry (IPTN) in 1976. Ten years passed, IPTN again
became the Archipelago Aircraft Industry. Finally, in 2000, the company changed its name to
PT Dirgantara Indonesia.

Since March 1978, Suharto also appointed Habibie to serve as Minister of State for Research
and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Habibie is recorded to have held this position

Cut Nyak Dhien (old spelling: Tjoet Nja ‘Dhien, Lampadang, Kingdom of Aceh, 1848 – Sumedang, West Java, 6
November 1908 [1]; buried in Mount Puyuh, Sumedang) was an Indonesian National Hero from Aceh who fought
against the Dutch in the Aceh War. After the VI Mukim area was attacked, she fled, while her husband Ibrahim
Lamnga fought against the Dutch. The death of Ibrahim Lamnga at Gle Tarum on 29 June 1878 then dragged Cut
Nyak Dhien further in his resistance to the Dutch.

In 1880, Cut Nyak Dhien married Teuku Umar, after he had previously been promised to go down on the
battlefield if he accepted the proposal. Fro

m this marriage Cut Nyak Dhien had a child who was named Cut Gambang [2]. After his marriage to Teuku Umar,
Cut Nyak Dhien and Teuku Umar fought together against the Dutch. However, on February 11, 1899 Teuku Umar
died. This made Cut Nyak Dhien fight alone in the interior of Meulaboh with his small army. Cut Nyak Dien’s age,
who was relatively old at that time and his body condition which was gnawed by various diseases such as gout
and myopia, made one of his troops named Pang Laot report his existence out of pity. [3] [4] He was finally
arrested and taken to Banda Aceh. There he was treated and his illness began to heal. The existence of Cut Nyak
Dhien, who is considered to have a strong influence on the resistance of the Acehnese and his relationship with
Acehnese fighters who have not been caught, made him then exiled to Sumedang. Cut Nyak Dhien died on
November 6, 1908 and was buried in Mount Quail, Sumedang. The name Cut Nyak Dhien is now immortalized as
Cut Nyak Dhien Nagan Raya Airport in Meulaboh. [5]

Once upon a time there was an old couple who didn’t have a child. They lived in a small house near the village forest. “Please
give us a child,” they asked God everyday. One day, from the household Shinto altar, they heard a cute cry, “Waa! Waa!”

They looked and saw a crying baby who looked just like a little finger. “This child must be a gift from God. Thanks to God!”
“We will call this child ‘Issumboshi’,” they said. They raised Issumboshi with much care, but Issumboshi never grew bigger.
“Hey, Issumboshi, do you want to be eaten by a frog?” Issumboshi was always being bullied by the children of the village and
often went home feeling unhappy. Grandmother would make some big rice balls and encourage him. “Eat a lot, and grow up
quickly,” Grandmother said.

One day, Issumboshi said “ I will go to the capital to study and become a respectable person. Then I will come back.”
Grandfather and Grandmother were worried about him, but Issumboshi’s mind would not be changed. At once they began
to prepare for his trip.

Issumboshi went on the trip with a big wish in a small body.At last Issumboshi reached the capital city and anchored under
the bridge. Then he climbed up to the railing and viewed the town. “There is a fine palace over there. I shall ask them at
once.” At long last Issumboshi arrived at the palace. “Excuse me, but I want to meet the feudal lord.”The lord came to the
door, “What? Who’s there?” “Here I am, at your feet.” “Oh. How small! Why do you want to meet me?” “Please let me be
your retainer.” “I wonder if your very small body can do anything.” “I’ll stay in your pocket and guard you from all harm.”
When Issumboshi said so, a bee came buzzing by. “Yhaa!” Issumboshi yelled, stabbing the bee. “Bravo! I employ you. It
would be good if you became the Princess’s man.” “Oh! What a cute fellow he is!” said the Princess, putting Issumboshi on
her palm. “I will defend you upon my life,” said Issumboshi. The Princess liked Issumboshi, and she taught him reading,
writing, and various studies. Further, Issumboshi practiced fencing very hard in order to be strong. One day the Princess
went out to worship at the Kiyomizu Temple. Suddenly there was a strong wind, and some demons appeared. The leader of
