pushbutton switch BIT on the selected category on the BIT control display.
SENSORS pushbut- Momentary pushbutton switch. Selects SENSORS BIT display or with SELBIT
ton switch pushbutton selected, initiates BIT on all sensors.
MUX FAIL Indicates ATFLIR pod is not communicating with digital data computer when
ATFLIR pod is turned on.
DEGD Indicates a fault has been detected which will cause degraded FLIR pod
operation.
DEGD+OVRHT Indicates ATFLIR pod operation is degraded and an overheat condition exists.
SF TEST Indicates FLIR pod is running an abbreviated initiated BIT when FLIR switch
is initially set to ON.
SENSORS Indicates operational status of the systems that I-BIT are running on.
status message
MUX FAIL Indication is reported by the ATFLIR pod and will be the same as the
indication for the ATFLIR pod.
DEGD Indicates a fault has been detected which will cause degraded ATFLIR
operation.

NOT RDY Indication is reported by the ATFLIR pod and will be the same as the indica-
tion for the ATFLIR pod.
SF TEST Indicates ATFLIR is running an abbreviated initiated BIT when FLIR switch
is initially set to ON.
SF TEST Indicates ATFLIR is running an abbreviated initiated BIT when FLIR switch
is initially set to ON for the ATFLIR pod.
MENU pushbutton Momentary pushbutton switch. Causes BIT control display to revert to the
switch TAC menu display.
ATFLIR control display Provides controls and displays required for FLIR system operation.
FLIR operating Indicates FLIR status is not ready (RDY with a line through it), standby
status (STBY), IBIT (TEST) or operate (OPR).
FOCS increase/ Pushbutton switches. Displayed by pressing FOCS pushbutton switch. Adjusts
decrease pushbutton focusing of the infrared video on the FLIR control display. Pressing and releas-
switches ing changes focus in small amounts. Pressing and holding changes focus very
rapidly. Focus is adjusted from 0 (least sensitivity) to 8 (highest sensitivity) for
close targets with an adjustment of 9 for far targets. Initially focus is set to 8.
ZOOM increase/ Momentary pushbutton switches. Adjusts zoom values from 1.0 to 2.0.
decrease pushbutton
LVL increase/ Pushbutton switches. Adjusts level (brightness) of the infrared video on the
decrease pushbutton FLIR control display. Pressing and releasing changes level in small amounts.
switches Pressing and holding changes level very rapidly. Level is adjusted from 0 (least
brightness) to 9 (highest brightness). Initial setting is 2.

GN increase/ Momentary pushbutton switches. Adjusts gain (contrast) of the infrared video
decrease pushbutton on the FLIR control display. Pressing and releasing changes gain in small
switches amounts. Pressing and holding changes gain very rapidly. Gain is adjusted from
0 (least contrast) to 9 (highest contrast). Initial setting is 5.
elevation readout Indicates pointing angle above or below the horizon. Negative sign is displayed
display when angle is below horizon.
BLK/WHT Momentary pushbutton switch. Alternately selects white hot or black hot video
pushbutton switch polarity. Label indicates selected polarity.
ALG pushbutton Momentary pushbutton switch. When boxed, selects automatic level and gain
switch controlled by the FLIR pod. With ALG selected FOCS increase/decrease
pushbutton label replaces GN increase/decrease pushbutton label and LVL
increase/decrease pushbutton label is not displayed. ALG pushbutton label is
boxed when selected.
LST pushbutton LST is displayed when laser spot tracker (LST) is tracking a properly coded,
switch laser illuminated target. It flashes until the LST target is designated.
velocity vector and Indicates aircraft vertical flight path angle and roll altitude information if
artificial horizon DCLTR is not selected. Horizon line is enlarged and velocity vector is centered
line when VVSLV selected.
DCLTR pushbutton Momentary pushbutton switch. Removes airspeed, altitude, mach number,
switch velocity vector, FLIR radar LOS box, FLIR radar LOS box offset symbol, artifi-
cial horizon line and azimuth steering line from display. Label is boxed when
selected.
altitude display Indicates barometric or radar altitude. Not displayed when DCLTR is selected.
SETUP pushbutton Momentary pushbutton switch. Causes a 10-shade gray scale to appear across
switch the bottom 1 inch of the video. The gray scale is used as an aid when adjusting
GN and LVL. Label is boxed when selected.
CAL Momentary pushbutton switch. When selected, pod will do a short video cali-
bration.
VVSLV pushbutton Momentary pushbutton switch. Displayed in a/g or nav master mode when a
switch target has not been designated and velocity vector is valid. Slaves ATFLIR line
of sight (LOS) to aircraft velocity vector when inflight. Reinitializes ATFLIR to
a specific pointing angle of 7.5° below the horizon along aircraft ground track
with weight on wheels. Label is boxed when selected.
Field of view reticle Indicates center of FLIR field of view. End bars on wide field of view reticle
indicate limits of next narrower field of view. Not displayed when acquisition
gate or tracking gate is displayed.
RTCL pushbutton Momentary pushbutton switch. Selects or deselects ATFLIR field of view
switch reticle.

TV/IR pushbutton Momentary pushbutton switch. Selects between the infrared (IR) sensor and
switch the visible sensor (TV) available to targeting operations.
Azimuth readout Azimuth readout is the ATFLIR pointing angle left or right of aircraft ground
track.
Moving target The MV TGT option is displayed when the ATFLIR enters autotrack mode.
(MV TGT) push-
button switch
EYE SAFE push- The eye safe laser (EYE SAFE) allows the aircrew to select between eye safe
button switch and tactical laser.
ALN pushbutton Provides the aircrew with the option to select between primary transfer align-
switch ment mode (position and velocity match) or the revert mode (position match
only).
INT ALN pushbut- Selecting re-initializes the transfer alignment (INIT ALN). When selected, will
ton switch box and unbox nearly immediately. The ALN QUAL should then be UNSAT
10.

FLIR display. After throttle designator control assignment, movement towards
DDI with FLIR display starts and stops acquisition and tracking without
undesignation.
Undesignate/nose wheel Undesignates all designated targets and commands ATFLIR to point. Pressing
steer switch switch twice within one second selects or deselects velocity vector slave
(VVSLV) mode when it is available in a/g or nav aircraft master mode.
