Stay safe and healthy! Have a nice day!

Good day my dear student! Praise be Jesus and Mary! Welcome to another week of fun learning! I have
prepared activities and new lessons for you to acquire. But before you start, kindly bow down your head and
PRELIMINARIES say your personal prayer.

As you go along in this module, in the long run and on your own, you will be able to apply subtraction in
mathematical problems and real-life situations as applied in preserving God’s creation.

“You can subtract from a number if it’s large or small.

‘Cause nothing can stop you now, you can do them all.”

The word “decrease” indicates subtraction; it is the process of

taking away a number from another. In this chapter, you will learn how
to subtract 3 to 4-digit numbers from 3 to 4-digit numbers with and
without regrouping. The use of mental computation in finding the
difference of two numbers will develop your skills in subtraction.
Further, you will also solve word problems and probably create your
own problems to enhance your skills.

In this chapter, you will discover how to subtract 3 to 4-digit

numbers with and without regrouping; estimating and mental
computation will be given emphasis. You will demonstrate mastery in reading and writing numbers and solve
mathematical problems.

At the end of this module, you will be able to:

 Subtract 3 to 4-digit numbers with and without regrouping (M3NS-Ig-32.6)
 Solves routine and non-routine problems involving subtraction of whole numbers using appropriate problem
solving strategies and tools (M3NS-If-34.5)

Kindly get your Math 3 book and open it to the following pages for the discussion. Please be guided and follow the instructions
in each lessons!

CHAPTER 3: SUBTRACTION OF WHOLE NUMBERS

Lesson 1: Subtracting 3 to 4-Digit Numbers with and without regrouping
Instructions:
➔ Read and understand the discussions on pages 60-62 with the guidance of your parent, guardian, or older sibling.
➔ As part of your exercise on this lesson kindly answer ”Concept Review” on page 61 & page 63 of your book.
Lesson 2: Solving Routine and Non-Routine Problems using Subtraction
Instructions:
➔ Read and understand the discussions on pages 68-69 with the guidance of your parent, guardian, or older sibling.
As part of your exercise on this lesson kindly answer ”Concept Review” on page 70 of your book.

Now that you have learned the numeration system and addition, challenge yourself and answer the following. Kindly read first
the instructions for this section.
INSTRUCTIONS:
➔ You may write your answer in another sheet of paper OR you may photocopy your answer on your book. Just
don’t forget to include your FULL NAME, GRADE/SECTION, SUBJECT and the DATE in the paper.
➔ Submit only your activity/answer sheet.

INDIVIDUAL TASKS/ACTIVITY
Answer the following pages:
➔ Act. #1: “Reasoning” p. 356
➔ Act. #2: “Do This” p. 367

INTEGRATION: (Self-reflection only)

CV/RV: Faith/Communion
Subtraction is the act of getting to less, but it is not the same as doing less. In fact, getting to less often means doing, or
at least thinking, more.

Social Orientation: Conservation of Natural Resources/Deforestation

Each year, thousands of trees are cut or burned around the world to clear lands for estate, farming or ranch.

Lesson Across Discipline: Science

Just think off nature and water, like for instance mountains, the sea or even a lake. Without color it would be extremely
boring. Subtraction brings color to your life. It helps to bring a balance so that both weights are equal and not one
overpowering the other.

Biblical Reflection: Deuteronomy 4:2

commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.”
