1.

What connections have you had from what you’ve studied in this LW course with
what you’ve learned from other courses you have taken at SLCC or have learned
before taking this class? Make specific references to your work in this class and in
other courses. How did what you learned in other courses enhance what you learned
here, and vice versa?

The biggest connection I’ve made between this class and previous classes is how
important the little stuff is. Attention to detail in how you work, speak, eat, sleep,
exercise, write, think all affects who you are as a person and the quality of your life. The
more attentive I was to how I slept, resulted in how much attention I paid to the paper I
wrote the next day. Taking care of yourself and in what you do is something that can’t be
dismissed or overlooked.

2. Reflect on what you thought about fitness and lifelong wellness before you took this
course and how you think about it now that you have completed the course. Have any
of your assumptions or understandings changed? Why? What
assignments/activities/readings were influential in this process? How will you
approach what influenced you differently in the future?

I definitely had a realization in how I perceived health vs fitness. I was very

single-minded on what a healthy person looked like which ,to me, was someone who
worked out everyday for long-extended periods of time. I didn’t understand that health is
a combination of little healthy habit like sleep, food/nutrition, stress management,
mindfulness, as well as fitness. Now that I understand this after setting my goals from the
challenges and reading the material, I can confidently say that my overall health has
tremendously improved and I feel actually healthy now instead of just overworked. I
know now that it takes balance and experimenting to find the right kind of lifestyle for
every individual.
