Martial Law Documentary

1. The CCP or the Communists Part of the Philippines was established in the year 1968. It
was led by Jose Maria Sison and after 3 months, the NPA or New People’s Army was
also established.
2. “I have proclaimed Martial Law in accordance with the powers vested in the President by
the Constitution of the Philippines” was the words said by Marcos that started the
nightmare of the Filipino people.
3. Sen. Benigno S. Aquino, an enemy of Marcos, made a speech in the first term of Marcos
as a president that the country will slowly turn into a garrison.
4. During the martial law, the problem in the economy worsen, a lot of people became
jobless and the abundance in the agriculture and industry stopped.
5. In the year 1971, 21st of August, in the Plaza Miranda in front of the Quiapo church,
during the campaign of 2 parties for senators, 2 grenade exploded. It left a lot of civilians
and some senators wounded. Wherein Sen. Aquino was not there when the incident
happened, was suspected to be one of the communists who planned the bombing.
6. Aside from Aquino, Marcos also suspected the CPP or the Communists Party of the
Philippines to be behind the bombing.
7. According to Aquino, the “Oplan Sagittarius” is the blueprint for the establishing the
Martial Law. But according to Romeo Espino, the Chief of Staff of the AFP or Armed
Forces of the Philippines who also wrote the original report of the Oplan Sagittarius, said
that it is only for an emergency plan in regards to respond to the situation in Mindanao
and some places in Luzon.
8. Aside from Marcos, Juan Ponce Enrile is one of the powerful people during Martial Law.
He was admitted to be the Martial Law Administrator.
9. The “Rolex 12” are the people who received Rolex watches from Marcos was the ones
who secretly planned the Martial Law. The group consists of 10 high – ranking officials
from the military and 2 civilians.
10. In the 14th day of the People Power, Marcos and his family left for Hawaii, and he died
there in the year 1989.
