Lower electrode potential and the slowness of its

reaction ability

Chromimetry is the titration method using Cr2O7 2- as

oxidizing agent in acidic medium:
Cr2O7 2- +14H+ +6e <-> 2Cr3+ +7H2O
Eo Cr2O7 2- /Cr3+ =1.36 V
Cr2O7 2- +14H+ +6Fe2+ <-> 2Cr3+ +7H2O+6Fe3+

Using strong acids as HCl, H2SO4 or HClO4 to

create the medium
Ox + Fe2+ <-> Red + Fe3+
Mostly use to titrate Fe(II)
Cr2O7 2- +14H+ +6Fe2+ (excess) <-> 2Cr3+
+7H2O+6Fe3+ Indefinitely stable, does not react with HCl

Direct titration Principle

Use to titrate oxidizing agent as NO3- , ClO3- ,

MnO4-

Condition

Back titration Application

For example, when titrating Fe2+, it is necessary to

add H3PO4

Replacement titration
Chromimetry

Use to titrate reducing agent

Red + Fe3+ <-> Ox + Fe2+

Cr2O7 2- +14H+ +6Fe2+ <-> 2Cr3+ +7H2O+6Fe3+
Indicator Three indicators for the titration of Fe2+ with
sodium diphenylamine sulfonate
K2Cr2O7.

For example, when we use diphenylamine,at the

end point, the solution turns green violet. diphenylbenzidine diphenylamine
