Intro of the art form, its significance, history, special features, etc:  

Tanjore painting is one of the ancient traditional art forms of India and also a geographic
identity. The basic structures of Tanjore painting were in the form of  wall murals. In
later days, Maratha administration have incorporated  the practice of using the precious
stones and gold in the painting. The paintings were made on the wooden plank covered
by a cotton gada cloth. The basic sketch were made on top of it. With the help of natural
colours the sketches were filled with beautiful and elegant look. In ancient days they
prepared the painting with the natural dies, whereas in modern days we are using the
poster colours.

2. There is a strong faith amongst the people about the paintings made with these kind
of precious stones and the gold connects the positive energy from the cosmic and gives
the source of very high Vibe to the subject we are creating.

In the traditional arts Tanjore painting the Indian mythological stories play the important
role. However, in modern days we are using this art forms to incorporate the various

Tanjore painting.

In modern days people used to draw the sketch by tracing the existing print pictures or
calender pictures or any sketch from the books they see and they can start drawing it
and make the colouring, however the way of practicing drawing is very important for one
artist to excel them self in the field of art.

Even now in Thanjavur palace complex One can witness the most ancient Tanjore
paintings which is created during the period of Sarfoji maharaja 1 and 2, using most
beautiful precious stone work, gold works inside the palace. During the period of
Maratha kings there were enormous contribution in promoting the traditional art forms
and spreading the art by making various people to learn the art forms and giving job
opportunity though it and they considered it as a prestigious icon where they can
demonstrate to the official guests they invite from the other countries. This art forms
were patterned by the royal families.

The very purpose of using these precious stones and the gold is because of two
reasons. 1. To create the enrichness and the elegance of the palace or wherever it's
been placed.
