MISSIONARY RESPONSE
1. What significant message were you able to draw from the story? 5 points

This illustration depicts the shoemaker's genuine and unadulterated feelings for God. He did not even
question what he had heard; instead, he patiently waited,
believed, and hoped that he would meet God. He has a
golden heart, and he never complained about helping
others, as God has always does.

2. Based on the story, what makes Christian

service truly Christian? 5 points
Christian service is altruistic, comes from
the heart, and does not demand anything in return. This characteristic is indeed distinguishing
Christian service as a truly Christian: it demonstrates compassion and purity of intent in serving
others, and it is for the greater good. Without these, probably a service seems like nothing but it is
just only a duty that must be completed in order to comply.

3. In the discussion in this Unit, Jesus is described as the sacrament of God. Also, in the
related story above, the shoemaker acted as a sacrament of Jesus. Without being overly
sentimental, in what concrete and realistic way can you be a sacrament for others? 10
points
The shoemaker’s action of helping others is a sacrament of Jesus because it can settle
and lighten up the world without the uncertainty and fear. It is truly one of the missions that I
should carry out, help and serve Him and the society in order to create greater good and avert
unhappiness. Those actions have the power to change each other's lives for the better, and this is
what the sacrament of Jesus does: it transforms reality's dilemma into a peaceful community
where everybody can now have equal opportunities in life. This story is definitely a
representation of the real life, where some people are in danger and others are in better condition.
It simply identifies how certain people obtain the golden heart in order to help those who are truly
in need.
