Gen. Juan Castaneda Senior High School is one of four standalone senior high schools in Imus City, Philippines. It was established in 2014 and named after a local hero from Imus. The school building was constructed in 2015 and began operations in 2016, initially offering science, technology, engineering, and math programs as well as technical-vocational courses. SCHOOL HISTORY

Gen. Juan Castaneda Senior High School is one from the four standalone senior high in the
City of Imus. It was established on September 23, 2014, based on the date of approved by the City
Ordinance No. 02-29-E series of 2014, authored by Coun. Eunice G. Ferriol. Its name was taken
from one of Imuseneos who became local heroes during the Spanish Revolution. Gen. Juan Saraza
Castaneda, the Illustrado and landowner of most of the lands in Imus took charge of logistics of
the Katipuneros and later joined the American Revolution in Cavite.

The establishment of the school was initiated by the Schools Division of Imus City
spearheaded by DR. LUALHATI O. CADAVEDO, OIC, Schools Division Superintendent, in
preparation for the incoming implementation of K to 12 – Basic Education Curriculum with the
full support of the City MAYOR EMMANUEL L. MALIKSI who expressed his desire to name
newly created Senior High School from the list of considered Heroes of IMUS CITY.

The school land was donated by SPS. ADELAIDO S. DE GUZMAN AND ROSITA DE
GUZMAN in favor of Provincial Government of Cavite; in which the latter through the leadership
of GOV. JUANITO VICTOR “JONVIC” C. REMULLA JR. lend the land to DepEd Imus City
for 50 years. Its 4 storey, 16 CL School building built on February 14, 2015, through the help of
Congressman ALEX “AA” ADVINCULA and turned over to the Schools Division of Imus City
on May 2016.

The school started its operation offering Academic Track – Science, Technology
Engineering and Mathematics Strand, Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL) Industrial Arts
Track - Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
on June 6, 2016, headed by Ms. Maria Luisa F. Candelaria with eleven (11) teachers and one
hundred sixteen (116) students. The following semester eight (8) teachers were added. Now it has
twenty-five (26) senior high school teachers.

To cater the needs of young Imuseneos, the school enhances additional Track and strands
offer. Year 2017 it offers Humanities and Social Science Strands (HUMSS) and General Academic
Strand (GAS) wherein preparing its graduates for job-ready skills, entering business and continue
to college.

At present, the school is headed by Mrs. Aida C. Bellon with twenty-six (26) teachers and
ten (10) Local School Board personnel. Its population is eight hundred twenty-two (856), eighty-
three (83) take Industrial Art Tracks and seven hundred seventy-three (773) take Academic Track
(BOSY 2021 - 2022). These learners come from the different barangays of Imus City and nearby
Cities.

The school received different awards and recognition from various competitions such as
SODUKO, School Investigatory Project, Debate, Sabayang Pagbigkas and other co-curricular
activities.
General Juan Castañeda Senior High school as part of the Schools Division of Imus City
trail and convey their support in continuing the deliberation of Basic Education. Aiming to serve
the Batang Imuseño according to their needs in receiving basic education.
With the support of all the school workforce together with the assistance of the SDOIC,
the cooperation and help of different stakeholders, delivering basic education will run smoothly
and the success of attaining our school goal – developing our learner’s skill, helping them in
being equipped for work, be an entrepreneurship and ready in pursuing their HIGHER
EDUCATION will become possible.
