Activities during the day:
On the first day of our OJT, we started with planning and brainstorming ideas base on
the requirements of completing the networking structure design in BE 214, BE 216, and BE
217 CPE laboratories. The faculty member discusses the reason for redesigning the network
structure is to have an easy trace and troubleshoot of network problem. They found out that
some of the system units in some laboratories could not connect to the internet and having
problems in troubleshooting since most of the cables are within the thick concrete wall. To
start the redesigning of the network structure we must write a letter to the head of the ICT
department for the request of the current network structure floor plan in CPE laboratories. We
also discuss the possible computer network topology to be used for communication of the
main server. We have not finalized the exact network topology since we do not have the
current blueprint of the network structure in CPE laboratories. We also list down and agreed
on the following software application and version to use in developing the project. The tasks
are assigned base on the member's skill sets.
Learnings:
In every project, planning is the main key to start the project running. The team must
divide the task to lessen the workload of every member. In determining the problem team
member can start developing possible solutions. In brainstorming, the team member can give
a much better idea or solution on how to finish the project.

On our second day of our OJT, we are still planning for the network structure and
creating a draft letter that will be submitted to the UM ICT for the request floor plan network
of the BE 216, BE 214, and BE 217. Prof. Angelia recommended we research for the
professional way of presenting documents of computer network plan while waiting for the
current network structure of CPE laboratories. We also design some concept samples for the
network structures using packet tracer to implement and simulates the idea we have. The
samples will be submitted to our adviser for us to receive comments and suggestions for
better implementation of the project. There is still room for improvement of the network
structure draft we made since we need advice from the professionals and to our mentor. At
the same time, we are reviewing how to design a computer network and research additional
knowledge for better planning. Lastly, we are also preparing for the upcoming project
proposal this Wednesday, February 3, 2021 presentation to our coordinator together with our
mentors.
Learnings:
For Today's learning, in every project, the main key is planning because the team
needs to come up with a plan that is given a certain task for them to start making the project.
Always make use of the time and avoid procrastination to achieve better goals and finish the
project successfully.

On our third day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We continued planning on the
task to be done to develop a better implementation of network structure in CPE laboratories.
We are still waiting for the letter that will request the current network structure floor plan of
the CPE laboratories. My team is researching and surfing on the internet for better computer
network topology for school computer laboratories. We share different ideas and still
working on draft the network structure using CISCO Packet Tracer software. We are also
planning on what we present next week since it is our project proposal as a group together
with our mentors—and lastly, preparing for the budget proposal that we are going to present
to them after we receive the floor plan print from the ICT Office. We also design some
concept samples for the network structures using packet tracer to implement and simulates
the idea we have. The samples will be submitted to our adviser for us to receive comments
and suggestions for better implementation of the project. There is still room for improvement

On our fourth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We continued planning on the
task to be done to develop a better implementation of network structure in CPE laboratories.
While waiting for the current network structure floor plan that we requested, we made use of
the floor plan of B.E. 2nd floor to implement the network wiring structure. We used AutoCAD
and SketchUp software for a better presentation of the network wiring structure. My team is
researching and surfing on the internet for better and standard computer network wiring
structure for school computer laboratories. We share different ideas and still working on draft
the network structure using CISCO Packet Tracer software. We started preparing on what we
present next week since it is our project proposal as a group together with our mentors. One
of our team made a PowerPoint presentation for the upcoming project proposal. The samples
will be submitted to our adviser for us to receive comments and suggestions for better
implementation of the project. There is still room for improvement of the network structure
draft we made since we need advice from the professionals and to our mentor.

On our fifth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We made finalization of the
project proposal for tomorrow's event. The task is divided among every member to finish the
PowerPoint presentation. The network topology is finally decided by our team and using
Packet Tracer for the simulation of the network system. To make the network more
presentable using AutoCAD and Sketchup are used to present the physical layout and wiring
arrangement of the cable network. We share different ideas and still working on a draft. One
of our team made a PowerPoint presentation for the upcoming project proposal. There is still
room for improvement of the network structure draft we made since tomorrow will be our
project proposal together with our mentors who are professionals and has experience in
designing network structure. There is still room for improvement, and we will be expecting
professional advice, suggestions, and comments base on the project proposal we made. This
will greatly help improve our project proposal and for the better implementation of designing
network structure.
Learnings:
For Today's learning, in every project, making preparation ahead of time can greatly
help the team ready. Dividing the task can help the project finishes on time. Make available

On our sixth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We made finalization of the
project proposal for tomorrow's event since it was postponed because of lack of time. The
task is divided among every member to finish the PowerPoint presentation. The network
topology is finally decided by our team and using Packet Tracer for the simulation of the
network system. To make the network more presentable using AutoCAD and Sketchup are
used to present the physical layout and wiring arrangement of the cable network. We share
different ideas and still working on a draft. One of our team made a PowerPoint presentation
for the upcoming project proposal. There is still room for improvement of the network
structure draft we made since tomorrow will be our project proposal together with our
mentors who are professionals and has experience in designing network structure. There is
still room for improvement, and we will be expecting professional advice, suggestions, and
comments base on the project proposal we made. This will greatly help improve our project
proposal and for the better implementation of designing network structure.

On our seventh day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We had Google Meeting with
our adviser and mentors. Our leader discusses the proposal we made in designing the network
structure. It was also discussed the methodology, concept floorplan, draft network structure,
and the assigned task given to every member. After the presentation, our adviser and mentors
raised a question and suggested the task we need to do. One of the tasks they require is to
make bill estimation of the materials in redesigning the network structure in CPE
laboratories. It was also suggested that in network structure a trunk line must be considered
having a common line to access the main server. It is also suggested to multiply the length of
the UTP cable network in two for spare parts. We were also assigned to determine the
number of end nodes needed and considering the new software application that requires a
new system unit in every laboratory. Lastly, it was suggested that we should make use of the
current route of the cable network to avoid additional expenses. We the proposal we made
feedbacks were jotted for the improvement of redesigning of the network structure.
Learnings:
For Today's learning, in every project proposal accepting new ideas, opinion,
suggestions, feedback, and comments are very helpful in improving the project.

On our eighth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We made a collaboration
meeting with the other group who were assigned in developing a new software application
that requires a connection to the main server. So far, we have updated the Attendance System
Group that they will require three end nodes for their new system. The Attendance System is
planned to be placed in every laboratory and the end nodes will be located at the STA table.
When we proposed the plan, we made on February 4, 2021, one of the mentors suggested
creating a common line which is the trunk line for all the system units where they can access
data from the main server. We share different ideas on how to design the network structure of
the CPE laboratories. There is still room for improvement of the network structure draft we
are making. We also made a collaboration meeting with the Inventory System Group if they
have the list of numbers of system units that require a network connection. So far, the list
they have right now is the inventory of the equipment and tool in room BE216 and we are
waiting for their documents to be sent to us.
Learnings:
For Today's learning in every project, teamwork is one of the factors to solve issues
and help one another to make the project successful.

On our ninth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. Most of the team who are
assigned to designing network structures are making revisions on their draft using packet
tracer to simulate the system. Using a different resource like a soft copy of the notes we had
in previous subjects, Google Site, and YouTube to further understand and improve the
network of structure. They shared different set up of network topology and structure. We the
draft they made there are rooms for improvement and open for suggestions and feedback
from the mentors who are professionally experienced in designing network structure. Since
the softcopy of the current network structure floor plan in CPE Laboratories is unavailable,
we used the time to look for better resources and references on how to properly implement
the cabling route of the network structure. It was mention by the mentors to estimate the bill
of materials, using the internet we surfed the average price of the materials that will be used
in implementing the new design of the network structure.

For Today's learning in every project, explore new and old resources to have better
references in studying new ways in designing network structure and better implementation.

On our tenth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. Each member of the team is
doing their assigned task to improve the draft design of the network structure with the help of
a packet tracer for simulation of the system. While waiting for the request floorplan from the
ICT, as I was assigned in AutoCAD to make a cable route floorplan of the network structure.
I made a research on the current prices of the materials for the estimation of the bill of
materials. I surfed on the internet on how to properly route the network cable. Since it was
suggested by one of the mentors to use the current route of the network cables to minimize
expenses. My team is expecting the list of inventories of all the equipment in CPE
laboratories to determine the number of end nodes required in redesigning the network
structure. With the help of the list of inventories, my team can also determine the number of
switches and routers required to implement the redesigning of the network structure. I'm still
searching on the internet for better references for redesigning the floorplan of the network
structure.
Learnings:

materials can help the client determine if the project is worth it to implement.

On our eleventh day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. The Attendance System Group
shared their 3D SketchUp Model that shows the location of their system unit. As shown in
their 3D SketchUp Model their server is located at the STAP counter while the LCD monitor
and RFID reader are located near the entrance door of every laboratory. They have decided
that each laboratory has its system unit, so we reserved three end nodes for network
connection. In the draft I made using AutoCAD I color-coded the new end nodes for the
Attendance System Server that requires a network connection. We keep on making a revision
to improve the draft we made and applying the suggestions made by the mentor. We surf
again on the internet to look for additional references that can help improve on redesigning
the network structure. My team cannot proceed with determining the total length of network
cable since we do not have the actual current network floorplan of CPE Laboratories.
Learnings:
For Today's learning in every project, make use of the available resources while
waiting for the requested resources can help lessen the task need to finish the project.

On our twelfth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We are planning on creating a
draft letter to request a document for monthly property inventory addressed to the laboratory
custodian of CPE (Computer) laboratories. Though we already asked the Inventory System
Group who are requesting the same document for monthly property inventory to the lab
custodian. The document we asked for can help my team determine the number of end nodes
that require a network connection, and the number of switches and routers device to complete
the redesigning of the network structure of CPE laboratories. We keep on revising the drafts
we made using Packet Tracer Software for network simulation. Using AutoCAD and
SketchUp software for 2D and 3D presentation of the network floorplan. One of the team
members who is assigned in SketchUp software is adding the concept of Attendance System
Group where their server is placed in STAP counter while their LCD monitor and RFID
reader can be seen near the entrance door of every laboratory. We share different references
using URLs since it is the only resource, we have to get ideas on how to improve and better
implement the network structure.

On our thirteenth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We are still in revising stage to
improve the draft we made. Each member of the team is doing their assigned task to improve
the draft design of the network structure with the help of a packet tracer for simulation of the
system. We have received the requested documents of the list of inventories from the
Inventory System Group. The list of inventories in every laboratory can help my team
determine the required number of end nodes. So far, we determine that in BE 214 there are a
total of 41 end nodes that require a network connection. In BE 216 there is a total of 58 end
nodes that also require a network connection. Lastly, in BE 217 there is a total of 33 end
nodes that require a network connection. A total of 132 end nodes requires a network
connection. My team can now determine the number of switches and routers required in
redesigning the network structure. We are looking forward to our mentors for suggestions and
comments for better implementation of redesigning the network structure this upcoming
Wednesday to give them updates on the progress of our project.

On our fourteenth day of our OJT, we are still waiting for an update from the UM ICT
Office on a softcopy of their floor plan network arrangement. We are making a finalization
for tomorrow's meeting with the panels. Together with the mentors, they ask for an updated
base on the progress we have. They will also check if the recommendation they made is being
done. So far, we have made some progression on our draft base on their recommendation.
The team member who is assigned to simulating using Packet Tracer software followed the
recommendation in designing the network structure with a trunk line for easy access of data
in the main server. Using AutoCAD and SketchUp to present the physical layout of the
network structure. We also followed the recommendation in reserving end nodes for the
Attendance System that requires a network connection. One of our team members made a
PowerPoint presentation for tomorrow's Google meeting with the mentors. The PowerPoint
discusses the progress we have made so far, and my team will be expecting recommendations
and suggestions for better implementation of redesigning the network structure. One of the
recommendations we have not done is to calculate the required length of network cable since
do not have yet the current network structure floor plan in CPE laboratories. Tomorrow we
will raise a question regarding our request for the floorplan.

On our fifteenth day of our OJT, we had a collaboration with our adviser and mentors
through Google Meet. We presented the updates we had so far using PowerPoint. We
discussed the trunk line for the whole network structure in CPE Laboratories using Packet
Tracer software for simulation. After the presentation, the adviser and mentors made
recommendations and comments based on the updates we have. Our adviser told us that we
cannot have the network floor plan in CPE laboratories for some reasons. Then it was
suggested that if ever we cannot have the document, we requested from the ICT my team
should have a close accuracy of the network floor plan. The mentors suggested that we
should arrange for access to enter UM-main campus to measure the CPE laboratories. It was
also suggested that one of the previous projects has an actual measurement of the CPE
laboratories that we may request the document they have. One of the laboratory custodian
concern is that licenses of the software that are used by other courses like Civil Engineers,
Mechanical Engineers, and other courses are stored in BE 216 Server. They also explain that
some of the network cable lines are not directly connected to BE 216 instead the network
cable pass through the ICT. It was also suggested to reserved end nodes for every laboratory
for the Wi-Fi routers. Lastly, one of the mentors suggested creating an Excel document of the
bill of materials that automatically calculates the expenses of redesigning the network
structure.
Learnings:
For Today's learning in every project, there will be a time when a project doesn’t
work based on the plan, the team should be adaptive to resolve lapses and limited resources.

On our sixteenth day of our OJT, through Google Meet and messenger we discussed
and planned how to do the following recommendations and concerns made by our adviser
and mentors. Our adviser gave us the updates on the requested document from the ICT is
denied for some reason. As suggested by our mentors we must conduct an onsite
measurement in every laboratory. As today's pandemic time most of the school universities
limit students from entering the campus to avoid virus infection. To gain access on entering
the school campus, the student must submit a letter of authorization to enter the campus for
school project purposes. The team started working on revising the network structure base on
the concern raised by one of the lab custodians. That one of the licenses of the software of
other courses is stored at the CPE server. The lab custodian wanted to limit the access from
the CPE server that only the software license intended for another course other than CPE. We
are looking for references and brainstorming ideas on how to solve the problem raised by the
lab custodian the mentors. The team who are assigned in redesigning the network structure
using Packet Tracer are also making revisions on how to better implement a network
topology and connection. The other team member who is assigned in AutoCAD and
SketchUp for cable routing are making draft revisions since we are looking for ways how to
gain the dimension of every CPE laboratory.
Learnings:
For Today's learning in every project, conducting a collaboration meeting with the
team project and the mentors once a week can help build better communication and give each
other updates.

On our seventeenth day of our OJT, we continued making revisions based on the
recommendations made by our adviser and mentors. As I was assigned in AutoCAD to make
a floorplan of the network structure and make the better implementation of the cable routing,
I also continued making revisions of the draft I have. One thing that bothers me is that I
cannot have a comparison or make use of the old cable route of the current network structure
for lesser expenses. I started making my draft of the network cable route to minimize
expenses and better cable routing. I continued looking for references and surf on the internet
for better cable routing and standard ways in network cable routing. I also used YouTube to
watch videos of some company's that have an I.T. department to determine how they wired
their network cable. I also wanted to check are types of equipment and materials required to
better wiring the network structure. We also made contact with the member of the previous
project who utilizes the CPE laboratories for their project simulation. We may gain
information on the actual dimension of the CPE laboratories. That way we can make close
accuracy of the bill of materials and required length of the network cables. We are still
hoping for an update from our adviser and mentors on better ways to acquire the current
network structure floor plan of the CPE laboratories.

On our eighteenth day of our OJT, we continued making revisions of the network
structure using Packet Tracer, Sketchup, and AutoCAD. We apply new ideas in redesigning
the networking and rerouting of trunk lines. We planned on giving a task to a member to have
an onsite measurement of the laboratories. To be able to enter the premises on the campus
we must send a letter to the UM admin to authorize a student to enter the campus. I focused
on BE 216 cable routing using AutoCAD to implement the placement of the network cable. I
made different drafts of network cable routes. I used different resources and follow the
standard in network cable routing for easy access when troubleshooting. I used a cable tray
for the overhead network cable for one of the drafts. There is also a draft that uses a cable
protector on the floor where network cables are running. It will protect from stepping when
someone is walking near the network cable. We continued looking for references and surf on
the internet for better cable routing and standard ways in network cable routing. We are
waiting for an update from the member of the previous project who utilizes the CPE
laboratories for their project simulation. We may gain information on the actual dimension of
the CPE laboratories. That way we can make close accuracy of the bill of materials and
required length of the network cables. We are still hoping for an update from our adviser and
mentors on better ways to acquire the current network structure floor plan of the CPE
laboratories.

standards need to be followed to avoid the complication of the project.

On our nineteenth day of our OJT, we continued making revisions of the network
structure using Packet Tracer, Sketchup, and AutoCAD. We apply new ideas in redesigning
the networking and rerouting of the network cable and structure. The other member is making
changes to the network structure using packet tracer where only CPE laboratories can access
the CPE main server. Since it was mentioned last time by one of the mentors that some of the
network routes coming from other laboratories are directly connected to the CPE server. I
also made new changes in the network cable routing using AutoCAD to follow some
standards and proper way of installing network cables in the wall, floor, and ceiling. Since I
do not have the actual measurement of the CPE laboratories dimension, I cannot have the
estimation of the bill of materials and the required length of the network cable. In revising
the AutoCAD there are network cables routed underground to avoid obstruction and lesser
length needed of the network cable wire. Some of the network cables are overhead with the
use of a cable tray. Overhead network cables are connected to the other laboratory room.
Since I do not have an actual master plan of the network structure in CPE laboratories, I made
my layout in network cable routing. It was suggested by one of the mentors to use the old
cable routes to minimize the expenses and time labor of the project.
Learnings:
In redesigning the project, team member must find ways to minimize expenses and
labor by using the old resources and usable materials that will greatly lessen the time labor,
and cost.

On our 22nd day of our OJT, we continued making few modifications to our own
designed Network Structure through Packet Tracer, AutoCAD, and SketchUp. On my part, I
was assigned in restructuring the network cables to improve the easy access of
troubleshooting LAN cables. I continued making new modifications and improvements to the
network cable structure using AutoCAD. Since the actual dimensions of the computer
laboratories are not accessible to us, I made my scale of dimension to create partial design
and network cable structure. Using my draft design of the network cable plan, in BE 216 I
positioned the data cabinet inside the laboratory custodian area where only authorized
personnel can configure the network system. In BE 217 since data cabinet is already installed
and positioned in the wall near the entrance door to avoid access from unauthorized. Lastly,
in BE 217 the data cabinet is installed and positioned at the corner near the window since the
room served as a networking class so it can be easily accessed by the authorized person. The
BE 214 and 217 data cabinet base on my draft there are no changes made to minimize
expenses and since it is well-positioned to avoid easy access of the unauthorized person.
Learnings:
For Today's learning in every project, there are certain standards and rules to follow
so when the time comes that the system needs troubleshooting or maintenance it can easily be
accessed by the authorized personnel.

On our 23rd day of our OJT, we discuss how can we access or gain an actual
dimension of every laboratory. In the previous meeting, one of our mentors suggested
submitting a letter of authorization to enter the campus. Since it was unclear if it is possible to
enter the campus because of the pandemic we are waiting for the final "Go' signal to submit
an authorization letter. One of our team already made a draft of the authorization letter
addressed to the QMO head to allow us to enter the campus. The three members of our team
volunteer to do the actual measuring of every laboratory since the three of them are within the
Davao del Sur. It was also suggested to bring their measuring tools since they need to follow
protocols to avoid getting the COVID-19 virus. We continued our task to make more
improvements and few modifications to redesign the network structure of the computer
laboratories. We also made clarification base on the meeting we had with the mentors since
they will discuss plan B since we can't have the current network structure floor plan of
Computer Engineering computer laboratories. Our adviser decided to continue the
redesigning of the network structure and they will use our output as a proposal to the ICT that
might be approved.
Learnings:
For Today's learning in every project, always create a backup plan in case of an
unwanted event that may occur while making the development of the main plan. There are
always possibilities that not everything you planned will work all the time.

On our 24th day of our OJT, one of our team members who are assigned in the
simulation of redesigning of the network structure of Computer Engineering laboratories
sends their sample output. Using Packet Tracer software to simulate the system the result
show success sends and receives of the data between the server and desktop computer. They
used combined network topology and the main trunk line for easy access to the important file
like software licenses. Using combined topology creates an optional route for data in case of
a line failure within the network structure. They also follow the recommendation made by our
adviser and mentors that can help improve the redesigning of the network structure. On my
part, using Excel Microsoft software to create an automatic calculation of Bill of Materials in
redesigning the network structure of Computer Engineering laboratories. The bill of materials
is one of the requirements to complete our master plan in redesigning the network structure.
Through online surfing, I checked the average prices of every material needed to accomplish
the redesigning of the network structure. Base on the draft I made the list of the materials are
UTP cable, RJ45, and PVC pipe for Electrical wiring. Some of the materials and equipment
are already available in the CPE computer laboratories so I did not include them in my
calculation.

On our 25th day of our OJT, we continued developing the network structure of
Computer Engineering Laboratories. I continue my part in redesigning the network cable
route using AutoCAD base on the output made by the other member who is assigned in
redesigning the network topology structure. I made different options in routing the network
cable either using PVC pipe or Raised Access Flooring on my research on the internet using
raised access flooring is popular in offices and other workplaces since it can give easy access
when troubleshooting or maintenance. One of the downsides of using raised access flooring is
too expensive since one of the objectives of our adviser is to have lesser expenses. I also
made different options for network cable routing since I do not have that much experience in
redesigning a network structure. Since there is a different category of UTP cable I included it
in our proposal for advisers and mentors can decide which type of UTP cable is best to use in
redesigning network structure. It will still need approval from our adviser and mentors since
they are more experienced in the network structure floorplan. Using one of the legit stores in
Davao City which is the Davao Futurebright Enterprise has their price list of some of the
materials needed in redesigning the network structure.

On our 26th day of our OJT, we raised a question to our adviser if it is possible to enter
the main campus for actual measuring of the Computer Engineering laboratories. Our adviser
suggested sending a draft letter of authorization to enter the University of Mindanao main
campus. We also ask if it is possible that 3 members of our team can enter the main campus
and our adviser will query it to the QMO for final confirmation of the maximum allowed the
student to enter the campus. We finalize our letter and send it to our adviser for corrections if
it is following the right format. We also finalized who will be given the task in conducting
measuring the computer laboratories. Since Saripa, Doringo, and Eliot are within Davao del
Sur they volunteer to do the task. Since there are possibilities that our letter will be approved,
I made an AutoCAD PDF softcopy for their references in measuring the Computer
Engineering laboratories. They focus on measuring dimensions of the BE 214, BE 216, BE
217, and the hallway. They will also take pictures of every Computer Engineering laboratory
for our references. The data they will get can greatly improve our redesigning the network
structure of the computer laboratories.

On our 27th day of our OJT, yesterday we already submitted the draft letter for
authorization to enter the UM-main campus for actual measurement of every computer
engineering laboratory. The letter was sent to our OJT adviser Engr. Randy Angelia to check
if the following formats are correct. He will update as soon the letter is approved by the QMO
since there are safety protocols we need to follow. While waiting for the letter to be
approved, we brainstormed for more ideas on what are the things that need to be done. We
suggested bringing their measuring tools, floorplan without dimensions for their guide, and
take pictures on the site for future references in designing the data network layout. The other
team continued improving the network structure using packet tracer. I also continued
improving my task in AutoCAD for network layout. In my draft in AutoCAD starting in
laboratory BE214 every PC requires 1 connection to the switch. Using 1 PVC electrical pipe
with 1inch diameter and 1 UTP cable will be inserted for easy pull-out of the cable in times
of troubleshooting. The PVC pipe will be beneath the surface for an organized manner and to
follow safety standards. In BE214 the data cabinet is located near the entrance and elevated at
2.5 meters from the surface floor. The old data cabinet will be reused for redesigning the
network structure. The following ideas I have will still need confirmation from our adviser
and other professors for better implementation of the network structure redesigning.

On our 28th day of our OJT, yesterday I almost finished making revisions on the
BE214 network layout. We are waiting for the authorization letter to be approved by the
QMO. My groupmate who is assigned to do the on-site measurement of every laboratory is
ready and ware just waiting for the response from the QMO. In my revision in redesigning
the network layout in BE214, the STA's system unit connection will be hanged through the
ceiling which is connected to the data cabinet. The attendance system unit will also be
positioned near the STA table. The network connection of the Attendance System will have
the same layout as the STA's network connection. A combination of PVC electrical pipe and
cable tray since part of the network cable be hanging from the ceiling. The cable tray will
help support the network cables and in an organized manner. There is a more possible routing
of network cables to lessen the expenses and materials needed in implementing the proposed
network structure. Base on the given inventory there are 35 system units intended for the
students, 3 system units for the STA, 1 system unit for the Attendance System, and 1 LAN
outlet for the subject teacher. In my calculation, there will be 40 network cables connected to
the data cabinet. But on my design, there will be only 32 system units intended for the
students. Since it is still a draft, there will be changes to accommodate 35 system units
intended for the students in BE214. The following revision I made still needs verification
from our adviser and other professors.

On our 29th day of our OJT, we are still waiting for the letter to be approved by the
QMO. Our adviser suggested making progressive output for the meantime and make use of
the available resources. I continued making revisions on data network layout at computer
laboratory BE216. Base on the inventory list at BE216 59 system units require a network
connection. To breakdown there are 50 system units for students, 3 system units for the STA,
1 for the laboratory custodian, 1 for subject teacher, WI-FI router, and 3 system units for the
software system like CEEREM, Attendance, IR-E Labs. The layout will be the same as the
old layout with few modifications to improve easy troubleshooting and maintenance. This
will also improve the network connection between the ICT database and other laboratories. It
was decided to put the database server in BE216 since the lab custodian can easily manage
and determine any problem that may occur. It was also suggested by the lab custodian since
the license of every software application like Proteus, AutoCAD, and other related software
was taken from one server. I also base my layout on my groupmates Network Simulation
using Packet Tracer. The plan is to rewire all network cables in BE216 as suggested to our
adviser and laboratory custodian. All the system units in BE216 will be connected to a data
cabinet intended for BE216 and a network connection to other Computer Engineering
Laboratory and ICT departments. The revisions we made still need verification to the panels
who have the expertise in designing network structure.

On our 30th day of our OJT, we are still waiting for the letter's approval and according
to our adviser, he is still for QMO's approval. While waiting for the letter to be approved, we
continued making revisions on the draft we made using Packet Tracer and AutoCAD. In our
AutoCAD revision, we used the same materials and concept in the BE214 Layout. In our
revision in the BE216 network layout, all the network cable connections will be below the
floor surface. We follow the standards for the safety of the students and faculties. Each
system unit will have an individual PVC electrical pipe where the network cable will use it as
its path to the data cabinet. The trunkline will use a cable tray across to the ICT and
Computer Engineering Laboratories. Aside from the trunk line, the network cables that
connect to other computer laboratories will use the same cable tray. Since UM already
installed a cable tray along the hallway, as a safety standard we will make use of it. In the
current layout of BE216, there are 5 rows. In each row, consists of 10 system units intended
for the students. The data cabinet will be positioned near the laboratory custodian workplace
for security reasons. The plans we have still need verification from the panels who have more
expertise in planning network structure. The

On our 32nd day of our OJT, yesterday our adviser told us to prepare for initial
checking and to make a PowerPoint presentation. We started discussing what are the
requirements we need to prepare. Since each task is divided, we review and simulate to check
for possible errors. The files we need to prepare are the logical layout, physical layout, and
cost of materials. In the logical layout, it can be seen the important equipment and materials
needed to complete the network connection between the three laboratories BE214, BE216,
and BE217. The Packet Tracer application is used to run some tests of the network structure
for computer engineering laboratories that will show the network topology. In the physical
layout, we used AutoCAD to make a network floor plan layout. It will show the routes of
network cables, PVC pipes, and cable trays. The dimensions and required length of each
material will be followed as soon as the other member of our group can do an onsite
measurement of all the computer engineering laboratories. We are still waiting for the letter
to be approved by the QMO. The physical layout is undecided if we will include it in our
progress report since it does not have dimensions. We are reviewing the following revisions
we made if we have followed the suggestions and few recommendations from the last
meeting we had with the panels. Using a PowerPoint to compile all the progress report we
have done so far. We are looking forward to the upcoming meeting with the panels for them
to check our progress.

On our 33rd day of our OJT, we continued reviewing the outputs and make revisions if
needed. We shared ideas what are the revision we made in preparation for the upcoming
initial checking of the progress we have. I was part of the physical layout to design the
network floor plan layout. We also prepare the estimation of the bill of materials. The prices
are based on the internet since some stores have an online website to allow their customer to
check product prices. The materials are the UTP Cable and RJ45 since it is one of the most
important since some of the materials are already available like switches, Wi-Fi routers,
desktops, laptops, and equipment. In the last meeting, it was mentioned that we better make
use of the old PVC electrical pipe layout to minimize expenses. One of the online stores that I
based the prices on is the Davao Futurebright Enterprises. The Good Game CAT6 UTP Cable
– Blue is Php 18.00/ meter. The D-Link NCB-5EUBLUR-305 CAT5E UTP Cable is Php
4,925.00/305m/box. The RJ45 is sold 100 pieces per pack with a price rate of 395.00. If RJ45
are sold per piece it would be around Php 3.95 each. The approval of the letter to authorize
my groupmate to enter the UM-main campus is still pending. The estimated bill of materials
will not be included in the presentation since we have an actual dimension of every computer
engineering laboratory. The revisions we made will be verified by our adviser and panels
during the presentation of the progress report.

material we must assure that the stores are selling good quality even though they are

On our 34th day of our OJT, the letter we sent to the QMO is still pending. Our adviser
is still making follow-up on the letter and still no response. Making use of the time they run a
different test on the network simulation done by the other groupmates. They use Packet
Tracer for simulating the network connection between the three laboratories BE214, BE216,
and BE217. Base on their simulation all the sending and receiving of data are successful. The
presentation together with the adviser and panels is postponed. We continued reviewing and
revising the logical and physical layout for better improvement of the network structure
redesign. The logical layout simulation is categorized into 4 groups the BE214, BE216,
BE217, BE213, and ICT department. The network simulation shows that computer
engineering laboratories through switch-to-switch with a trunkline for easy access from the
data server of BE216. Then the BE216 is linked to the BE213 then to the ICT department for
internet connection. The logical layout still needs verification from our adviser and panels if
they agree to our proposal. The physical layout lacks the actual dimension of the computer
engineering laboratories. The dimensions will be a great help to determine the required length
of UTP cables. If the required length is determining my groupmate can estimate the bill of
materials. While waiting for the letter to be approved, we help run a test simulation of the
network structure using Packet Tracer to determine any possible error. We share ideas to
better improve the network structure redesign.

On our 35th day of our OJT, we received an update from our adviser that the letter was
approved by the QMO. According to the QMO's protocol students can only stay within 3
hours. It was also stated to bring their own and wear it properly facemask and face shield to
avoid virus infection since it is a global pandemic. They must also stay on the location based
on the letter we submitted to QMO. The three-member who volunteered to enter the UM-
main campus are Doringo, Eliot, and Saripa. They also prepared the tools they need
tomorrow for measuring on-site. Our adviser reminded those who will enter the campus to
strictly follow the protocol for safety reasons. After the briefing with our adviser regarding
safety protocols, we share ideas and reminded our groupmate of what are the things to bring
and to do during onsite measuring of every laboratory. They already printed a hard copy for
their guides of what are the dimensions we need to complete the physical layout. In the
physical layout, we use color code for easy determination of the new revisions we made. The
yellow line emphasizes the trunkline that connects between the three computer engineering
laboratories. The orange line emphasizes the Wi-Fi data jack outlet. The blue lines are
network connections between the desktop and data cabinet. The revisions we made still need
verification from our adviser and panels to check if we still need to improve or make changes
to the proposal.
Learnings:
For Today's learning in every project, the scheduled plan to finish the task can take
another additional time to complete. The team project should work overtime to cope up with
the scheduled time to complete the project.

On our 36th day of our OJT, yesterday our adviser discussed the initial checking of the
outputs of every group. The group who was not able to present their initial output can submit
through the LMS by attaching the files. Today, our group mate namely Doringo, Eliot, and
Saripa will conduct their onsite measurement of all the computer engineering laboratories.
They follow the safety protocols like wearing facemask and face shields. They also brought
their measuring tools and hand sanitizer as part of the safety protocol. As stated in the
approved letter, they can only stay within the computer engineering laboratories to have
social distancing with other people. Since some of us are not on the UM campus, we assisted
them virtually and answer their queries regarding the additional details to measure. They
started measuring around 9:00 AM starting from BE217, then to BE216, and lastly BE214.
The following important measurement details they need are the length, width, and height of
every computer engineering laboratory. They also include the student's table, STAP counter,
laboratory custodian area, and subject teachers table dimensions. We also suggested taking
photos of every computer laboratory including the cable tray along the hallway. That way we
will have our references on how to arrange the following equipment and system units. It will
also help us to know the best network layout of the computer engineering laboratories. As
soon as they finalized the conduct of measuring of the computer laboratories, they will send
the softcopy of all the data they gathered to our group chat.

including me started calculating and redesigning. We started calculating the total length of
every material like UTP cables. Every computer engineering laboratory needs an estimation
of the total required materials to determine the cost of the materials. The prices were based on
the internet since going out from the house is risky because of the pandemic. The UTP cable
price is based on per length. We started redesigning the draft at BE214 using AutoCAD since
the actual dimensions of every laboratory are available.

In BE214 we calculated the total required length of UTP cable. The calculation we base is the
horizontal and vertical run of the network cable including the slack cables. The total length of

required total length. The total length we calculated at BE216 is 898 meters. Lastly, at BE217
the required total length of network cable is 701 meters. We also made few revisions to the
drafts to lessen the expenses. My groupmate also made few revisions in the network
simulation thru Packet Tracer. We also discuss the files we need to compile and prepare a
presentation for the possible initial checking. In the following drafts, we have still need
evaluation from our adviser and other professors who has more experience in this field.

decided to use a video presentation of the network simulation within the computer

the network floorplan. The network floorplan will show the routes and dimensions of the
network cable of every computer engineering laboratory. We review again the cost estimation
of the materials needed for the three laboratories. The following materials we considered are
UTP cables and RJ45. The following outputs we have will be evaluated by our adviser, lab
custodian, and panels tomorrow's Google Meeting. My team will be expecting
recommendations and suggestions for the better implementation of the project.

On our 43rd day of our OJT, today is the day we are scheduled for initial

questions and recommendations were raised during the meetings. There are recommendations
made by the panels to follow standards. They suggested having a spare cable in every
backbone in the physical layout. It was also suggested to have an extra allowance in
calculating the required length of the network cable. To conduct formal quotation of every
material for us to have formality and standards to follow. One of the panels, which is Engr.
Jetron Adtoon suggested having a Google Meeting with us to discuss a better way of
designing the network structure of the three laboratories. He was also appointed by our
adviser since he is more experienced in this field. He will be a great help to our team to better
improve our logical and physical layout.

On our 44th day of our OJT, yesterday we were done presenting our initial
output together with the adviser, lab custodian, and panels. Since recommendations were
given yesterday, we started following the suggestions they made and making revisions of the
logical and physical layout. The group member who was assigned in logical layout started
making revisions using Packet Tracer. The group member including me was assigned to the
physical layout started making revisions following the standard symbol of the data outlet
suggested by one of the panels. We discuss the possible Google Meeting with Engr. Jetron
Adtoon to further discuss the standard way of designing the network structure of the
computer engineering laboratories. One of our members asks Engr. Adtoon of his available
day and time to conduct a collaborative meeting. Engr. Adtoon suggested having a Google
Meeting tomorrow, around 9 AM-12NN to have a long discussion regarding designing the
physical layout of the network structure of computer engineering. We agreed to the
scheduled since it is also our duty hours for our OJT. The online meeting, we will have
tomorrow can greatly improve our network structure design.

On our 45th day of our OJT, yesterday we finalize an appointment meeting

with Engr. Adtoon for the purpose of having a discussion regarding for redesigning the
network floorplan of Computer Engineering laboratories. Today we had a meeting with Engr.
Adtoon, the discussion focuses on how to implement and design a network floor plan layout
through AutoCAD application. He also gives us insights how a network structure is being
implemented in actual situation. He also shows us an example of the network floorplan of his
previous works. In the example network floorplan, he showed to us the standard symbol of
the data outlet, network cable, PVC electrical pipe, cable duct, and data cabinet. H also
shows us the different templates of the network floorplan. The following template he showed
us are the Data System Layout, Data Tagging, and Pipe Layout. He gave us an idea of the
exact number of network cable that can fit in a 1inch diameter PVC electrical pipe. In his
previous experience in implementing network structure, they fit 8 UTP cable in a 1-inch
diameter including a spare cable in case one of the cables will not function. According to his
suggestion we fit a maximum of 6 network cable in every 1-inch PVC pipe including the
spare cable. The following materials he suggested that we include in our layout are utility
box, CAT6 UTP cable, face plate, RJ45 connectors, junction box, PVC electrical pipe, cable
duct, and patch panel. The overall discussion will guide us on how to properly design and
improve the network layout for the computer engineering laboratories.

discuss on how to properly design and improve the network layout for the computer
engineering laboratories. My groupmate started making revision base on the recommendation
to improve the draft network structure redesigning of the computer engineering laboratories.
We discuss and share different ideas in making changes in the logical and physical layout.
The task is divided in three categories. The following task are canvassing of materials,
physical layout, and logical layout. I was assigned in physical layout, using AutoCAD to
implement the redesigning of the network floorplan. I started making revision of the
computer engineering laboratories. I decided to layout first the PVC electrical and cable duct
starting from BE214, then BE216, and last BE217.As suggested to use the PVC pipe for the
floor and wall below the surface area for the safety standards and organized the network
cable. It was also suggested to use junction box of every end of one PVC pipe length. In
BE214, we determine the number of system units that require date outlet. There will be a total
of 37 system units that will be used for student, STAP, subject teacher, Wi-Fi router, and
Attendance system. After determining the amount of system units, we started making
network routes using the PVC pipes from floor to wall. The data cabinet of BE214 is
mounted in the wall 3 meters from the floor near the entrance door. Since it is wall mounted,
Engr. Adtoon suggested to use a cable duct instead of cable tray since it is less expensive and
easy to install. The cable duct will be the routing network path for the UTP cable which is
positioned near the ceiling of the of the laboratory.
Learnings:
For today's learning in every project, we must be time efficient and able to make use
of the available time to finish the given task on time.

On our 47th day of our OJT, we continue making revision on the assigned task
that is given to us. In physical layout, we continue making changes using the AutoCAD to
show the network cable routes. Yesterday, I made a final change and review the network
routes using the PVC pipes and cable duct of BE214 laboratory. In BE214 we grouped the
system units in a maximum of 5 since each required 1 network cable connection. It requires
one 48ports Cisco switch since there are only 37 systems units that require network
connection. There will be 6 network cable including the 1 spare cable and 5 cables intended
for the system units. We also finished making data tags in BE 214 that will be used to
determine which switch port is assigned to the systems units. The following missing details in
BE214 is the data system layout. We decided to make the data system layout when finished
making layout of the PVC pipes, cable duct, and data tagging. After, making revision in
BE214 we proceeded making changes in BE216. The same procedure is done in
implementing the data tagging, and auxiliary layout. We decided to put the data cabinet near
the lab custodian area for safety and privacy. In our design we place the data cabinet floor
mounted since it is hidden and for easy access of ICT department.
Learnings:
For today's learning in every project, always review the last changes you made in the
project to determine the starting point of developing the project. It can help improve when
new ideas or best method come up in making the project.

BE216 is the data system layout. We decided to make the data system layout when finished
making layout of the PVC pipes, cable duct, and data tagging. After, making revision in
BE216 we proceeded making changes in BE217. The same procedure is done in
implementing the data tagging, and auxiliary layout. Since BE217 is intended for computer
networks classes, therefore it has an existing data cabinet. The data cabinet is floor mounted
located near the presentation board fronting the subject teacher area.
Learnings:
For today's learning in every project, focus on the assigned task and ask for help if
necessary to make the project follows the safety standards.

outlets for the actual implementation of their computer network classes. We also finished
making data tags in BE 217 that will be used to determine which switch port is assigned to
the systems units. The following missing details in BE217 is the data system layout. We
decided to make the data system layout when finished making layout of the PVC pipes, cable
duct, and data tagging. We finished making the data tagging and auxiliary layout of the
computer engineering laboratories. We started reviewing and shared it to our groupmate for
them to check our output.
Learnings:
For today's learning in every project, letting the other groupmate review your works
will greatly help the project because they might have a better method. It will also help
determine if the logical and physical layout coincide to each other.
