LIMIT
A limit is a number that a function aprproaches as the independent
variable of the function approaches a given value. For the example,
given the function f(x) = 3x, you could say. “The limit of f(x) as x
approaches 2 is 6”. Simbolically, we will more carefully define a limit,
as well as give examples of limits of functions to help clarify the
concept.
In general the function limit can be written with
Lim F(x) = L

(x) = (a)
To determine the value of lim (𝑥 ┬ →𝑎)⁡
〖 〗
𝑓(𝑥) The steps are as follows

DETERMINING Substitute the value of a, if f(a) is

┬→ 〖
defined, then lim (𝑥 𝑎)⁡ 𝑓(𝑥)=𝑓(𝑎) 〗
FUNCTION If f(a) is not defined, lim ┬(𝑥→𝑎)⁡
LIMIT VALUE
〖 〗 𝑓(𝑥) = None

If f(a)= 0/0 then we need a strategy

1) Factoring
2) Multiply by compound form
CONTINUOUS

A function can either be continuous or discontinuous. One easy

way to test for continulty of a function is to see wheter the
graph of a function can be traced with a pen without lifting the
pen from the paper.
Example
show that the function f(x) = 2x - 1 is continuous at the point x = 1 ?

the solution:
Check the three conditions:
1.Function value : f (1) = 2.1 – 1 = 1
┬ → 〖 〗
Left limit value : lim (𝑥 1^− )⁡ 2𝑥 −1=1
┬ → 〖 〗
Right limit value : lim (𝑥 1^+ )⁡ 2𝑥 −1=1

┬ → 〖
2. This means that the limit value : lim (𝑥 1)⁡ 2𝑥−1=1 〗

┬ → 〖 〗
3. lim (𝑥 1)⁡ 2𝑥−1=1=𝑓 (1)

Because if the conditions are met, then the function f(x) = 2x - 1 is

continuous at the point x = 1
