Mission Statement

Please write a personal mission statement, including four components: A Vision Statement, a Mission Statement, your Core
Values, and your Goals (please see descriptions below).

Vision Statement (global picture of what you want to achieve moving into the future-the long view of who you want to be
professionally):
 Often starts with the word “to”

 To guide students to get an understanding of educational concepts, and to also instill into them an understanding of their deep
worth and capabilities.

Sample: To ignite students with their own passion for life and learning and to support the growth of deep internal levels of
confident faith and a strong sense of empowered agency.

Mission Statement (who you are now-should connect with your vision statement to show how what your doing now will get you
where you want to go in the future):
 Should be concise: 1 sentence, 2 at the most: LESS is MORE.
 Should capture the essences of who you want to be as a teacher

Core Values (at least 5):


 Specific moral qualities or sense of purpose for your career, such as:
o The kind of character you wish to exhibit for your students or specific virtues (patience, compassion, endurance, long-
suffering, intellectual rigor, etc.)
o The sort of work ethic you would like to demonstrate to students (excellence, ongoing effort for strong and meaningful
lessons, engaging extra curricular activities for your school site, providing differentiated learning, strong, character-
building classroom with good classroom management, high quality interactions with student)
o The sort of employee you’d like to be for your employer (faithful, dedicated, innovative)

show up on time, and go the extra mile on behalf of my school and my students
o Maintaining a close relationship with the Lord that empowers me to have the wisdom and strength to live a virtuous

 Dedicated to put forth my best foot and accomplish goals to the best of my ability, while keeping others in mind.
 Passionate about creating a welcoming learning environment that has high quality interactions, lessons, and management.
 Demonstrating and acting out God’s love to everyone I encounter, no matter the age or status. Extending compassion and
wisdom when dealing with school conflict and concerned parents.
 Creating a safe space in my work environment for those around me, both staff and students, to feel confident that they are
being heard and cared for when they step into the room.
 Dedicated to try my absolute best in every situation with grit and perseverance, and to do everything in my power to cultivate
the minds of my students.
 Help build the next generation into people who have strong characteristics that value honesty, integrity, perseverance,
positivity, optimism, and dependability.

Goals (at least 3) (statements of what needs to be accomplished to fulfill your mission and vision):
 Specific things you need to do or areas you need to grow (finish teaching credential, specific educational skills such as
knowing specific teaching strategies, classroom management, theory)
 Specific aspects of your teaching content that you wish to become more knowledgeable about (science, history, ELA, Physical
Education)
 Specific timeframes for how you wish to proceed

myself by the end of the school year.
