1. Define human resource planning. Why is it important to organizations?


Human resource planning is the process of analyzing and identifying
the need for and availability of human resources this bringing the
organization closer to its objective.
2. What is involved in the human resource planning process?
This specific process is a five-step process that begins with Assessing
Human Resources, then following: Demand forecasting, Supply forecasting,
Match demand and Supply, Action Plan. This process creates a smoother HR
control over various scenarios that may present themselves in a work
environment.
The first step involves an environmental analysis, this meaning the
external and internal are analyzed to asses current human resource
inventory levels. After that process is finished it will be easier for the manger
to see the strengths/weaknesses of the organization. This process also
reveals other possible threats or opportunities. In other words, in a job
comprehensive analysis of what available workers and skill within the
organization.
The second step being demand forecasting in the five-step process.
This important step estimates demand for and supply of human resources in
an organization. Basically, this process determines the future needs for HR in
relations to quantity vs quality.
The third step in the process is just as important as the previous step
and that involves supply forecasting. This is the other view of human
resource assessment. This process steps main functions are focused on
estimating of supply of manpower given to the analysis of current resource
and future availability of human resources that are likely to be available from
outside the organization.
The fourth in continuation of this process comes matching supply and
demand. Mainly focused on bringing the forecast of future demand and
supply of HR. Its basic functions consist of bring the demand and supply to
an equilibrium position so shortages and staffing will be solved. For example,
seasonal hire and fire for businesses.
The final step in the process consist of the Action plan. This step
concerns itself with the surplus and shortages of HR. this is carried out
through executing through the various HR activities. These activities
concerning HR selection, recruitment, placement, training etc.
3. How can an organization increase its human resource supply?

Organizations can increase resource supply by recruiting from many


sources to increase inventory levels. Recruiters have many mediums to
attract the best time so they can for fill their needs whenever a requirement
for the company as needed. Networking sites is a major aspect that can be
integrated into the human resource supply chain.
4. What is job analysis?
A job analysis is basically a process to identify and determine in
specific details that particular job duties and requirements that are relative
to a job aspect. This process is where judgments are made in data is
collected in the process.
5. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the observation, structured
questionnaire, and diary job analysis methods.
Advantages are those that can be collecting quickly first handed by
analysts that then assimilate the data easy with other data. Behaviors can be
accurately described. In all reality the observer has the advantage of his or
her opinion about the job disadvantages may include the workers may act
differently when under a watchful eye and also a leading to the analyst
watching the wrong thing or events that aren’t normally in occurrence.
6. Explain the terms job description, job specification, and essential
functions.
Job descriptions are basically written statements of what the job holder
duties and responsibilities are specifically. This identifies the personal
characteristics that is required to perform as a successful job. These
functions must be accommodated by the employee with or without
reasonable accommodation.
7. Explain the importance of essential functions as they relate the Americans
with Disabilities Act.
The ADA (American with disabilities act) shelters employees from
discrimination centered on their disability. This does not necessarily mean
that other employers have to hire or fire those who cant do the job. Though
in order to be a contender for a possible job they must be able to perform
the essential functions the job holds. If the desired performance is not met
and the employer oversees these actions they may hire/fire.
8. Identify how the five core job characteristics of job enrichment could be
used to improve your job or a job of your choice.
The five core job characteristics of job enrichment include physically
and mentally helping individuals to develop variety of skills and talents and
can perform more efficiently, helping individuals to complete task efficiently

and effectively as they would be involved in the process. The job will be more
meaningful as the employee will be motivated to proceed with company
needs. This then leading to a more meaningful employee that feels value
making the job more interesting hey see if she will experience freedom and
independence in the workplace. Also, many reaching a goal of consistency
and knowledge and experience knowing there is the feedback from
managers and leaders can help no employee understand and work on the
weaknesses.
9. Describe the human resource planning implications when an organization
implements flexible scheduling.
These implications are flexible to meet family needs, personal
obligations, and life responsibilities conveniently. They also avoid traffic and
the stress of commuting during rush hour times throughout the day I also
have a reduction in consumption of employee commuting time and fuel
costs. This being said increase feeling of personal control over schedule and
work in the environment is great in the organization and this commitment
towards the organization will increase.
