Proposition Paper
Students frequently have trouble being engaged in assignments due to different types of
learning styles. For example, a student may perform well when creating his boat to present to the
classroom about the Boston Tea Party because it allows him to use his imagination and creativity.
But, he fails to pass the pop-up quiz about the Intolerable Acts when his teacher presents it
through a PowerPoint and often finds himself distracted. The reasoning behind this is that it was
difficult for the student to recollect what he just learned the other day from an auditory learning
style when he succeeds in kinesthetic learning. With the help of technology, it has allowed
“educators to accommodate the three main learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic”
(Emma, 2018). Incorporating all learning styles has been a challenge but technology helps not
If technology were to be taken away from these students, not only does it put a hold on a
way of their current learning but the advantage students would have in the future. College
students are using computers, laptops, and phones on a day-to-day basis when doing their work
through google docs, PowerPoint, and canvas. However, those students who did not have the
privilege to truly understand how to work those apps are now learning. Although, students who
started using technology at a young age are ahead of those students and have discovered tools
that are hard to comeby when just learning. Additionally, no student would prefer to flip through
pages to find information when they can type in their question and answers come to them on
google. Lastly, students can pass standardized multiple-choice performance exams through
technology with the help of apps that allow teachers to copy the exam onto computers and
laptops. No need to fear if students will open a window and cheat, Lockdown browser is a
custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system.

Identification of Standards
The state of Nevada and the National level technology standard both ask for
standard is applied to different grade levels (Second, fifth, eight, and twelve grade) and asks for
more based on higher grade levels whereas the National level is not directed towards a certain
grade. Additionally, ISTE Standards which is formally known as the National Educational
Technology Standard dives into detail on each standard. For example, 1.1 Empowered Learning
standard asks for 3 different in depth standards. The importance of both Nevada and National
standards are how and what is used to improve all students learning through technology. When
using technology students can create a powerpoint on a wide variety of cultures, interactive
quizzes, or other ways of learning which allows them to meet the National Standards that are set
for students.
Technology has impacted all grade levels by making the assignments increasingly
engaging and collaborative. When discussing across-activity choices a student can learn from
paper (book), presentation, or a youtube video. Often a youtube video is far more engaging since
your brain can process what they see faster than what they read. The reasoning behind that is
because students often have a hard time understanding what they are reading whereas the visuals
from youtube can clarify what you are confused on. After that student has learned from the
youtube video (assuming that is what he picked) allow that student to pick how they would like
to demonstrate what he or she has learned of the given topic. Now within-activity choice is still
allowing the student to independently pick something; however, this time the student will choose
the material in his favor: crayons or sparkly markers? Or reading corner or their desk? I plan to
use standard 1.3: 3C (knowledge constructor) into my learning with instructional choices.

Lesson Plan

events in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., how characters interact).
Objective: Students will learn how to use the computer's drawing tools to create a book that has
drawings of two characters of their choice from the previous book they just read. This allows
them to be creative and compare and contrast the two side by side characters.
Materials needed to facilitate the lesson: The previous book that will help them decide on what
Procedures: You will click the link that I have provided and press the blue box that says “GET
KRITA NOW.” You will be on a new page and now will select the macOS installer then it will
download. While it is downloading you will go to google search and type in white and will select
a blank white screen and download/screenshot that screen. After Krita is downloaded and you
have the white screen, you will drag the white blank screen into the krita. It will then have tools
around the screen and then you can start editing. First click the brush icon (Far left, down 2)

The brush icon is your brush that you will use to draw. If you would like to
adjust the size of the brush you are going to click the colored brush icon box at the top.
After, remind students that they should use color because creativity and
using other tools is a part of their grade. To adjust the colors, click the icon right next to it that
has colors you can swap. Shortly after, colors will pop up and you can choose your desired color.
Begin by drawing the outline of a book which is a big line, medium line, and another big line.
(You want these lines four finger spaces from each other but for the students they might need
more space.) You will then have the top of the big lines connect to the top of the middle line and
6
repeat it for the bottom of the line. (Now you should have the outline of a book.) THIS IS
WHERE YOU STOP. You will now instruct students that they will be choosing two characters
from the book we “just read” which is A Wrinkle in Time. Inform them that one character will go
on the left side and they have to draw that character along with its powers, personality, and likes.
Then you tell the students to choose a second character from the book and draw and color the
exact same thing. At this point, you will show the students my creation that I have left behind on
a different paper and remind them this is an example and should not be copied because they will
get a 0. Once students have completed both sides of the drawing, remind them to add their first
and last name with the date on the top right corner. Once 100% completed the student will then
hit the file at the top of the computer, press save as, name the file “book: A Wrinkle in Time '',
and select the type of file and have them change it into a JPEG IMAGE file. Once the file is
saved, have the students send me their project through canvas. (students already know how to
send me projects but if they need help, have another student help them.)
If any trouble saving, have the student simply screenshot the image or take a picture from their
Assessment: I plan to grade each student's work with the help of a holistic rubric. When looking
at their projects I would like to see the use of colors, different shapes, and length in lines. I want
to be able to get a good understanding of both characters from the book. When looking at their
drawing I do not expect it to be perfect, rather they know what tools they are using so they can
