Course Description:
This course deals with the teaching of listening and reading components of language teaching. It takes into
account the nature, the theoretical aspects, the competencies and the productive teaching learning strategies.
General Objectives: At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
a. Cognitive
1. Know the current trends in the teaching of listening and reading
2. Discuss the different strategies involved in the teaching of listening and reading
3. Aim to attain a high level of listening and reading to prepare future teachers of the enormous tasks laid before
them
b. Affective
1. Identify the listening and reading level of enrolees in the course
2. Increase their level of listening and reading
3. Manifest in their day to day activity the marked level of improvements
c. Psychomotor
1. Formulate a listening-reading scheme geared towards improvement
2. Operate / work using the constructed scheme as a supplement to the existing level of listening and reading
3. Formulate a check-list to gauge the extent of usefulness of the formulated goals and activities
