Equation For Calculating Rt

Formula
Rt = R0 (1 + α * ΔT)

Where,
Rt is resistance at measurement temperature
R0 is resistance at reference (0°C)
temperature α is temperature co-efficient of
material
ΔT is the difference between measurement and reference temperature

Copper - 300 ohm

Platinum - 300 ohm

Applications: RTD is used in:

 Power electronics
 Computer
 Consumer electronics
 Food handling and processing
 Industrial electronics
 Medical electronics
 Military
 Aerospace.
Analysis
A. On Changing the Resistance and the Material of RTD it is observed that the graph of
Temperature Vs Resistance always remains Linear. Resistance is directly proportional to the
Temperature, i.e., Resistance Increases with increase in Temperature
B. The Temperature Readings for different Materials of RTD at Same Resistances are almost
similar.
