From 2020 to now is a dramatic span of time, one of severe social issues during this
timeframe is the COVID-19 pandemic. Needless to say, it has led to a huge
fluctuation of human life worldwide.
I. The world
1. New normal
First of all, Covid has changed our lives significantly. Most of our intentions have been
postponed, businesses went into lockdown, masks are our wardrobe addition, or
quarantining at home. The consequences of this is that we have more time for taking care
of ourselves, improving sleep patterns, modifying an exercise program or changing into
healthy dietary eating habits.
2. Mental health
On the contrary, the pandemic has triggered a wave of mental health issues, such as
depression, social isolation, stress. The phobia of Covid has caused the increase of
alcohol consumption and rampant rumors like drinking bleach can kill the virus.
3. Education
About the education, students have to study online because of schools and universities’
closures. Apart from the inefficiency and time limitation of lessons, we could learn from
this pandemic a number of new epidemiological words entered the general lexicon,
namely "social distance," "basic reproduction number", and of course the name of the
illness itself, COVID-19.
4. Businesses - Environment
Besides, many institutions have rearranged their staffs’ work shifts so that the offices
wouldn’t become overcrowded. This makes the working time more flexible and has the
potential of reducing traffics at peak hours. In Asian and Europe, transportation and
enterprise have declined 30-40% in activation. Therefore, it slowed the hustle and bustle
of cities, also appeared to dramatically lower emissions of CO2 and NO2 around the
world.
5. Economic
However, everything has its 2 hands. The changes are only suitable for officers, not for
services and tourism. Visitors can be the spreaders, so people choose not to go out.
Furthermore, the economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is also
devastating: tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty, while
the number of undernourished people, currently estimated at nearly 690 million.

II. Vietnam
Vietnam’s economic downturn is even more serious because our country’s livelihoods
depend on agriculture, which is facing the difficulties during the epidemic. Additionally,
calamities, floods, landslides, tornadoes kept occurring in multiple places in Vietnam.
Nevertheless, this makes our solidarity and willpower are depicted more clearly, the good
qualities which have become precious and indispensable traditions of our nation from the
very first day. Everyone coming from all ages helps each other. Youngsters and alumnus
actively participate in charitable activities to contribute money to compatriots in the west
to support them to buy water purifiers. Popular artists or administrations of Kpop
fanpages in Vietnam also receive the money and then give it to people who need.

Some changes affected by Covid are temporary, but some are permanent. No matter how,
our lives are going into their inherent trajectory and settle down. All are thanks to
judicious policies of the governments of the world in general and our country in
particular. I can tell some: speed up administrative reform, sponsor for the researches and
experiments, orient the education system to be more practical, especially reform the
medical education, diversify state management and create dual effects, and so on.

I, myself will strictly comply with anti-covid regulations, such as always wearing a mask
when going out, not gathering, frequently washing hands, not touching eyes, nose, and
mouth, maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Moreover, I will tell my friends and family to do
the things I have said, to stop the expasion of coronavirus together.
