Exhibition Green Article

What exactly happened on the 30th to the 31st of March during the Y6
exhibition day? At the NIST GREEN’s booth, there was a plant sale,
organized by Arnav, JearEing, Lincoln, Michael and Palmy.
The main purpose of this plant sale was to make the NIST community
and the NIST student’s home become a more eco-friendly place. The
other purpose of this plant sale was that we wanted to tell people
about our plan to make the world a greener place by planting trees and
plants in as many places as possible, and reducing the amount of
deforestation.
After exhibition, we calculated total of the plants that were sold, and
the leftovers, we got an amount around 14,000 THB worth of plants
leftover. We also set up a PATT booth for people to make donations
for trees. We chose PATT’s foundation because when we visited their
website, it was quite resourceful, so we thought that they could help
us answer our questions. In the middle of the interview, we learned
PATT’s goals, and their goal was similar to our group’s goal so we
decided to cooperate with PATT. The reason we decided to set up a
stall for PATT is so people could see what PATT’s foundation is
doing, and let them participate in activities that makes Bangkok
greener.
PATT foundation stands for Plant A Tree Today. PATT is a group of
people who want and try to make Bangkok a greener space by
planting trees and plants around the city. The plants and tree’s money
comes only from people’s donation, so they need people to be more
generous.
NIST Green’s vision of a preferable future is to see more green spaces
than urban spaces in Bangkok and to somehow make Bangkok more
eco-friendly. While researching, we were able to define some
problems from our research. The main problem is that there are not
enough green spaces in Bangkok because people are continuing to cut
down more trees than they are planting. In the end, we found a way to
solve this problem which is if we make the NISTIES home greener,
people will think that NIST is a cool, and beautiful place and they will
copy NIST. The word would spread through people who comes to
NIST would see this little design, and tell more people about it.
We would like to thank the PATT foundation which helped us with
the research by answering our questions. We would also like to thank
Mr. Doug, Mr. Paul and Ms. Kate who helped us by approving our
plan and giving us some suggestions. Last, but not least, we would
like to especially thank Ms. Siew for organizing all the trips to
Chatuchak market to purchase plants for exhibition.
