ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is with the great sense of satisfaction that we present our reveal

Venture in training process in the form of project work. We are very fortunate to have
Mr.Rishav Chandel (CEO of NETMAX TECHNOLOGIES) in netmax technologies as our
trainee and mentor.

While working on this project, their patience and valuable hints helped us in sailing
through the rough seas. They were generous enough to lend us their time, experience
and expertise.

We also acknowledge, with great thanks, our head of the centre and program
coordinator Mr.Rishav Chandel for their encouragement and suggestions that we were
provided at different stages while working on this project and all the staff members of our
department for all the help that they have extended to us.

Last but not least, we are also thankful to all our friends without whose help this
process would have been unexpectedly protected and meeting of the deadlines would
have been impossible.

a. ABSTRACT

This report discusses the training program at NETMAX TECHNOLOGIES PVT. LTD. It
states that the concept of PLC programming.

It shows a brief background about the place of training. It mentions some facts about the
department that was responsible for the training program. The report describes about the
history, characteristics, overview and concepts of PLC Automation.
1. INTRODUCTION OF TRAINING

The purpose of industrial Training is to provide exposure for the students on practical
engineering fields. Through this exposure, students will have better understanding of
engineering practical in general sense of frequent and possible problems. This training is part of
the learning process. So the exposure that uplifts the knowledge and experience of a student
needs to be properly documented in the form of report. Through this report can facilitate the
presentation of the practical experience in an orderly, precise and interesting manner.

I have chosen PLC programming as my training because it will help me in several ways. I have
chosen my language course in ladder and by having little bit knowledge in this subject will help
me in carrier growth. During learning this I came to understand much more concepts of other
programming.

2.1 Learning Outcomes from Training

General learning outcomes:
• An understanding of the principles and practice of PLC
• Learn about ladder logic
• An awareness of the need for a professional approach to design and the
importance of good documentation to the finished programs

Specific learning outcomes:

• Be able to implement, compile, test and run programs • Understand how to
include our logic in a program

Introduction of the Organization

4. TRAINING CONTENT

Module 1

What is Automation

Use of computers to control the particular process with minimal human involvement. To
increase the reliability and efficiency of the system.

What is PLC

A programmable logic controller or programmable controller is an industrial digital computer

that has been ruggedized and adapted for the control of manufacturing processes, such as
assembly lines, robotic devices, or any activity that reliability, ease of programming, and process
fault diagnosis.

History of PLC

PLC development began in 1968 in response to a request from an US car manufacturer (CE).
The first PLCs were installed in industry in 1969.

Dick Morley is known as the founder of the PLC

First PLC Program

One Bulb on/off by 3 switches write the following lader logic

Here,

• Addressing in PLC programming:

• %ix0.0…….switch one
• %ix0.1……..switch two
• %ix0.2……….switch three
• %qx0.0……….Bulb

One bulb on/off by 3 switches using NC contact and NO contact in PLC programming.

NC contact and NO contact

• NC stands for normally closed

• NO stands for normally open

NO using as start button

NC using as stop button

Data Types In PLC

• SINT- signed short integar

• INT- signed integar
• DINT- signed double integar
• LINT
• ULINT
• USINT

Popular types of PLC Programming languages are:

• Ladder Diagram (LD)

• Sequential Function Charts (SFC)
• Function Block Diagram (FBD)
• Structured Text (ST)
• Instruction List (IL)
TYPES OF PLCs Manufacturing By Companies :-

➢ Allen Bradley Micro 820 PLC

➢ Omron PLC CP 1E Compact
➢ Siemens LOGO Basic PLC
➢ Delta ES2 Standard PLC Series
➢ ABB
➢ Honeywell PLC
➢ Hitachi PLC

Two main types of PLC:-

Compact PLC
Modular PLC
COMPACT PLC MODULAR PLC

What is Timer

A Timer is a PLC instruction measuring the amount of time elapsed following an event. Timer
instructions have single inputs triggering the timed function.

Types of Timers are there in PLC:-

IN general, there are three types of PLC timer delays

✓ ON-Delay Timer
✓ OFF-Delay Timer
✓ Retentive Timer ON
What is Counter:-

A Counter is a function block that counts up or down until it reaches a limit. When the limit is
reached the output is set.

Types of Counter:-

o Synchronous counter
o Up/Down Counter o
Decade Counter o Ring
Counter o Modulus
Counter
ON/OFF Switch Buttons:-
Block Diagram of PLC:-
Basics Parts of The PLC:-

A typical block diagram of PLC is shown in above fig. As clear from fig PLC consists of
following basic parts.

• CPU
• Programming Device
• Input & Output Module

The CPU (central processing unit) is the heart of the PLC system.

SCADA
Introduction:-

A SCADA ( Supervisory Control AND DATA ACQUIS system gathers

information such as where a leak on a pipeline has occurred, transfers the information back to a
central site, then alerts home station that a leak has occurred.

These systems can be relatively simple, such as monitoring environmental conditions of a

small office building.

Applications of SCADA:-

❖ Electric power generations, transmission and distribution: Electric

utilities detect current flow and line voltage, to monitor the operations of circuit breakers,
and to take sections of the power grid online or offline.
❖ Manufacturing
❖ Water and Sewage
❖ Traffic Signals: regulates traffic lights, controls traffic flow and detects out of order signals.

Block Diagram of SCADA:-

HMI
Introduction:-

The HMI (Human Machine Interface) is the interface between the processor machine
and the operator. This is the primary tool operators and line supervisor’s use to coordinate and
control industrial and manufacturing processes and machines.

Purpose of HMI:-

HMI allow operators to start and stop cycles, adjust set points, and perform other
functions required to adjust and interact with a control process.

PLC Addressing Chart

VFD
Introduction:-

A VFD (Variable- Frequency Drive) or adjustable frequency drive variable voltage,

variable speed drive, AC drive, micro drive is type of motor drive used in electro-mechanical
drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque by varying motor input frequency and
voltage.

Manufacturer:-

➢ ABB
➢ EATON
➢ LENZE
➢ HITACHI

The Main Three Types of VFD:-

▪ VSI
▪ CSI
▪ PWM

Second PLC Program

❖ Car Entry Two Input and One Output:-

In PLC Programming output named as Coil.

Here,

Addressing:-

• %ix0.0………….Switch One
• %ix0.1………….Switch Two
• %qx0.0…………Coil (Output)
• %mx0.0…………Special type of memory used in program to easy programming

Conclusions
It is native for an Extension professional to feel that if information is delivered during a learning
activity, the educational mission has been accomplished. The broader mandate that learning
generate change in behavior, practice, or belief requires a much more sophisticated science and
art. In today’s information rich culture, Extension’s store of information no longer makes the
organization unique. Rather, Extension’s organizational strength and uniqueness lie in the
experience and capability of its professionals to motivate individuals and groups to action.

It is important for Extensions educators to develop and field test useful models for program
design and delivery that include behavior change. It is equally important for the models to be
linked to sound educational theory that will we valued by partnering agencies and understood by
the targeted clientele.

The process described in this article accomplished these objectives and resulted in information
that now provides a framework for quality training in a broad range of programming. Further
development of the model has resulted in additional insights with practical application beyond
the scope of this article.
