move your goods and choosing the right mode of transport means finding a balance.

Choosing your mode of transport: what to consider

 The budget must be the most important factor in decision making.

 Transport speed is also important. Also, make sure the mode of
transportation you choose is reliable.
 If you are transporting dangerous goods, contact the Dangerous Goods
Branch of the Department of Transportation.
 If your products are expensive or if you send them by sea, you may want to
consider insurance. They can be maritime or goods in transit, and will be paid
by the buyer or the seller depending on what the terms of trade are.
 If your cargo is valuable, it may be necessary to use vehicle tracking.
 Make sure loads are properly packaged and labeled for reduce the risk of
harm.

Modes of transport

Choosing the correct mode of transport for your products depends on the size and
urgency of your shipment.

Road:
Road transportation is cheap, convenient, and one of the most flexible modes of
transportation, but if you're unlucky, it may be subject to long unwanted delays.

Rail
Rail transport is fast and ecological. However, it is inflexible and can be very
expensive.
Take into account the amount of cargo and route for the transport to be viable, as
well as the cost of road transport at the end of the trip.

Air
Air freight is the fastest way to transport your products to long distances, but it's
expensive and not very eco-friendly.
Freight forwarders organize air shipments for you, so you don't have to worry about
all the details and extra costs.

Sea
It is relatively inexpensive but it is slow and quite inflexible: there are few ports and
you will probably have to move your goods inland.

Delivery courier
Couriers are fast, reliable and very safe, but they can be expensive, they are
generally only profitable over short distances.
