Harmonic Sequence
- another type of sequence which reciprocal of
arithmetic sequence.
ex. 1, 3, 5, -> 1, 1/3, 1/5
3/2, 7/2, 11/ 2 -> 2/3, 2/7, 2/11
example problem:
1, 1/3, 1/5, 1/7, 1/9... H10= ?
a10= a1 + (n-1)d
= 1 + (10-1)2
= 19
H10= 1/19 Pascal’s Triangle
Harmonic Mean
- to get harmonic mean we have 2 formula
1.) H= 2ab/a+b (used where there are two given
numbers)
example:
24 & 12
H= 2(24)(12)/24+12
= 576/36
= 16
2.) H= 3mnp/mn+mp+np (usee when therr are three
given numbers
example:
3, 4 & 5 Polynomial Application
H= 3(3)(4)(5)/(3)(4)+(3)(5)+(4)(5) - a polynomial is a type of algebraic expression which
= 180/47 observe the following restriction:
= 3.83 a. all variable in numerator must have positive exponent
b. all variable in denominator must have negative
Binomial Expansion exponent
-it uses the pattern in Pascal's triangle to write an Type of a Polynomial
expanded expression of binomial 1. Linear: expression has 1 the highest exponent
Binomial Expansion Formula: 2. Quadratic: 2 as the highest exponent
-where n is the exponent of the given binomial and k us 3. Cubic: 3 as the highest exponent
the number of the term minus 1 4. Quartic: highest exponent is 4
Factorial 5. Constant: zero/ no exponent
-the product of an integer and all the integers below it For the steps of simplifying algebraic expression use
(example 4! is 4x3x2x1) your notes.
-factorial is represented by the symbol ! For the steps using synthetic division use your notes.
Classification of Polynomial:
1 term=Monomial
2 terms=Binomial
3 terms=Trinomial
4 terms=Multinomial

Synthetic Division
Factor theorem- Where you use a value in synthetic
division and your ending value is equal to 0
Remainder theorem-Where you use a value in synthetic
division and your ending value is not equal to 0
Quotient-The final values where the variables are
already added

Zeros of Polynomial Function

- values of x that were substituted to the given function
the value will be equal to zero.
Integral Zero:
- list of the possible factors is constant
- the number of zero of a polynomial varies on the
degree
For the formula and steps in Integral zero, use your
notes.
Rational Zero
-The factors of the leading coefficient and the constant
Leading coefficient
-The leading coefficient is the constant beside the
variable with the highest degree
Constant
-The number that doesn't have a variable and the
degree is 0
Factors
-the values that when you add to themselves once or
multiple times it will equal to the value that you are
factoring (example- factors of 16 are 1,2,4,8,16; you can
add 4 to itself 3 times [4+4+4+4] and it will amount to
16; same with 8 you can add 8 to itself 1 time [8+8] and
it will amount to 16)
