TITLE:

LEADERSHIP SELF-ASSESSMENT.

Leadership assessment provides you with an opportunity to give a more detailed and defined
objective to all your abilities and capabilities as a leader. Regardless of the career stage,
leadership assessment helps in nourishing the skills that you already possess and develop
those that you require to be a successful leader. There is a tricky thing about leadership. It is
not just the collection of skills one possesses. Being aware of these skills and utilizing them
to reach your target goal is what makes a leader. Assessment of self-leadership is important
as it helps one capitalize leadership strengths and assist in improving the weaknesses. It also
helps in guiding towards creating and achieving goals. Moreover, it gives space to self-
assurance.

A good leadership assessment will help you in understanding the person you are and work on
it. That assessment could be positive, negative, and intermediate. While going on the journey
of being a leader, that factors could be very critical and important. dealing others and leading
the organization could be improved a lot by assessing leadership skills and personal qualities.
This enables one to confront the weaknesses and build the leadership strengths. Leadership is
greatly affected when you start learning about yourself. This makes you everyone’ favorite
and inspiration. When your team members trust your abilities and respect your passion, they
understand your stance in a better manner.

Having an honest opinion about yourself can help other people to evaluate themselves and
have opinions too i.e., the process motivates you and your co-workers too. This process also
boosts and speeds up your credibility among employees and colleagues. Reassessing yourself
at different stages of your professional as well as personal levels continues refining your
strengths and command on being a progressing leader. If you feel like not having enough
command, the assessment can help you find the right training and counselling programs.
There are a lot of leadership development plans working for the right causes.
A lot of companies and organizations have leadership assessment programs and initiatives
that play a vital role for them in making people more professional and refined. Such
initiatives focus on appraising the capabilities of managers to lead projects and teams. True
leaders are defined as the ones who motivates and inspires others, displays honesty and
integrity in everything they do, solves, and analyzes issues and problems, works to reach the
desired goal efficiently and communicates prolifically and powerfully. Such individuals also
have professional and technical expertise in their designated domains. They display and
develop others to have more professional expertise. They innovate and implement innovative
strategies.
I have also gone through a self-leadership assessment test for my personality, and this is the
results that I have got. The results that I got very pretty good if evaluated based on
measurement of charts. These results have enabled me to assess my personality and
leadership qualities. The assessment was based on seven different and independent quality
traits that were assessed according to the answers I submitted. These traits include personal
stability, productivity, self-management, boundary setting, communication, work quality and
teamwork.
These factors collectively define the boundaries of being a leader and by assessing your
personality, you are enabled to judge and rank yourself. Let’s start off with dividing these
factors into strong and weak point and then discussing every factor individually. Based on the
results, only self-management could be viewed as my weak portion and the rest of six
personality trait results showed that I have quite a grip on them. As we progress and divide
them, I would be developing strategies to cater and work on my weak points so that I become
a better leader.

Personal stability refers to the lifestyle that one adopts. It reflects the well thought out and
consistent behaviors, decisions, and mood swings. This allows one to make appropriate
decision about their finances, health, and life choices. The scores in this part couldn’t be
better as I have scored 10 out of 10. Productivity refers to the effectiveness of everything that
one does. It determines the ratio of acceptability and closeness to the desired goal. Getting 14
out of 15 would be considered as approximately ideal score which ensures that my priorities
lie in giving required attention to the designated tasks. I have been allotted 9 out of 10 marks
in both Work quality and boundary setting that proves a point that my services and tasks are
in accordance with the required outcomes. Communication (14/15) and teamwork (24/25)
shows that I have strong grip on soft and interpersonal skills that are the basic traits of a good
leader.
The only weak point according to the assessment is the self-management part where I scored
12/15. Although, it is still acceptable but if compared to the rest of six, I really need to work
on that. Self-management is the art to manage who you are in a way that is both effective and
productive for you and things associated with you. Self-management is a vital key factor in
the lives of successful leaders. When you are aware of who you are and know your limits and
shortcomings, you work on converting those to your strength. For that part of assessment, I
need to develop some strategy to work on my self-management. I would be focusing on
following factors and adopting these in my daily life:
 Assessing my Strengths
 Prioritizing my Responsibilities
 Developing Organizational systems
 Creating strict deadlines
 Performing one task at a time
 Evaluating my progress 

Self-assessment about leadership is a continuous assessing of your capabilities and abilities to


be more successful and focused leader. It helps in improving the productivity and standards
for an individual and help them in targeting more audience and driving tasks efficiently.
They also serve a wake up for the issues present and help you solve them. This continuous
phase of improving your personality and leadership qualities would enable you to go on a
path that would make you a better version of yourself. moreover, my personality on
leadership was assessed through a test and its results were weighed down using my
assessment analysis. I have divided those results into weak and strong points. In the end, a
strategy was formulated to adopt it and make it a part of my daily life schedule.
