specified, and be suitable for installation in open, air, ducts, conduit or direct burial.

B. Conductors: Stranded, soft copper, number as shown.

C. Insulation: As specified with standard Color Coding.

1.6 CONDUCTOR INSTALLATION

A. Interiors of conduit shall be clean and dry before pulling wire. If dirt or moisture has
entered conduits. Contractor shall swab them clean.

B. Care shall be exercised while installing wire in conduits so as not to injure conductor
insulation. Use UL listed wire pulling lubricants for pulling-in conductors.

C. Free ends and loops of wire at boxes and enclosures shall be pushed back in box and
protected by blank covers or other means until the interior painting or decorating
work is completed.

1.7 CONDUCTOR IDENTIFICATION

A. The conductors of branch circuits for power and lighting shall be color coded for
identification purposes in accordance with Article 5.3 of the Philippine Electrical
Code.

B. Power feeders for 600 volts and below shall be color coded by using permanent-
colored, non aging insulating tape.

C. Branch circuits shall be connected as numbered on drawings. Test and permanently

tag by circuit number each circuit wire, except neutrals, in panel gutter before
connecting to panels, using numbered tapes.

D. Terminal strips shall be lettered or numbered and numbered or lettered tapes shall be
attached to conductors connected through terminal strips.

1.8 SPLICES, TAPS AND TERMINATIONS

A. Splices and taps of conductors 5.5 mm sq. and smaller shall be made using electrical
spring connectors with vinyl insulating caps.

B. Splices and taps of conductors larger than 5.5 mm sq. shall all be made by long
barrel crimp type connectors. Finished splice or tap shall be insulated with one layer
of vinyl backed mastic followed by two half-lapped layers of electrical tape or
premolded caps or heat shrinkable tubing.

C. Feeder conductors shall be terminated with long barrel crimp type lugs.

D. Connectors shall contain only one wire unless listed for multiple conductors. Feeder
cables shall be continuous without splices.

E. Terminal lugs and connectors shall be AL 9 Cu rated.

F. Apply corrosion inhibiting compound for all aluminum connections.

G. Brands for terminal lugs and connectors: Burndy or Penn-Union

1.9 FIELD TESTING

A. Inspect splices and termination for mechanical and electrical tightness prior to
acceptance of the work.

B. Lighting circuit shall be identified and shall pass operational tests to see that the
circuits perform functions for which they are designed.

C. Conductors shall be tested phase-to-phase, phase-to-ground and phase-to-neutral.

D. Conductors and leads shall be tested for continuity. Feeder and branch circuits shall
be given a megger test using 1000 volt motor driven megger.

1. Megger tests shall be made between phase conductor and ground phase to phase,
and phase to neutral. Megger readings for cables connected at both ends shall be
recorded.

2. Each feeder conductor shall be meggered with the cable connected to the open
breaker at the equipment. Connections at the other end of each of these cables
shall be as follows:

a. Conductors to motor control centers shall be connected to the motor control

center bus with switches in the starters open.

b. Conductors to motors and other equipment shall be connected to the motors

and equipment with feeder switches open.

E. Test reports: typewritten, listing equipment used, person or persons performing the
tests, date tested, circuits tested, and results of tests.

1. Insulation resistance tests, general:

a. Perform insulation resistance tests on equipment and cables listed herein.

b. Test equipment: furnished by Contractor; equal to “Megger” as
