Academic Advisor reflection

During the meeting that I had with my Academic Advisor, Mr. Heng, I have asked
plenty of questions regarding my studies and the program that I am taking. During the first
hour of our meeting, Mr. Heng asked us to introduce ourselves, where we come from and
what CGPA we got before taking HRD degree program. After that, he introduced himself and
explained to us a lot about what he does and what university has he taught in the previous
years before becoming a lecturer in UNIMAS as well as giving us a lot of exposure about his
career. He then moved on to what questions do we have for him. And then we proceeded to
ask him a bunch of questions. The questions that I asked him were about how flexible is the
program that I am taking. He then told me that I can become a manager, I can become an
entrepreneur, a HR specialist, and a whole lot more. To conclude his answer, HRD has a lot
of job opportunities. Another question that I asked him was “What are the advantages and
disadvantages of online meetings?”. In his opinion, the advantages and disadvantages of
online meetings are not that much different. What’s clear is that it depends on the students. If
they have internet problems, then there’s nothing we can do about it as well as he cannot be
aware of what other students ae doing because their camera is turned off compared to
physical meetings.
All in all, I had a good meeting with our Academic Advisor, Mr. Heng. He
encouraged us to see him more and seek his help if we encounter some problems.
