Clause 2.15 Warning Tapes

1. A warning tape, blue in color, shall be laid in all
trenches 300 mm above the top of the pipes for each
utility main distribution and service line.

2. Above all non-metallic mains, the tape shall be

detectable, except in specifically approved circumstances;
elsewhere the tape shall be of polyethylene, PVC or other
inert plastic material resistant to alkalis, acids and other
destructive elements found in the soil.

3. A continuous warning message shall be repeatedly

imprinted on the tape surface with durable black letters of
50 mm height in Arabic and English alternately: "CAUTION
– BURIED WATERLINE BELOW."

4. The tape shall be 150 microns in thickness and 300 mm

in width.

1. The tape shall be of polyethylene, PVC or other plastic
material. For all sewerage pipes and mains, the tape color
shall be red. For electric power supplies, the tape color
shall be yellow.

2. The tape shall be detectable above all non-metallic

mains, except in specifically approved circumstances.

3. The tape shall be 300 mm in width, 150 μm thickness

and shall be obtained from an approved supplier.

4. A continuous warning message shall be repeatedly

imprinted on the tape surface with durable black letters of
50 mm height in Arabic and English alternately;
"CAUTION: BURIED SEWER LINE BELOW" for sewer pipes
and mains, and "CAUTION: BURIED ELECTRIC LINE
BELOW" for power supplies.

be yellow PVC tape and shall be at least 300 wide and
0.125 mm thick.

Clause 2.06 A UNDERGROUND WARNING TAPE

1. The material of the warning tape shall be PVC.

2. Size of the underground electrical warning tape shall be

300 mm (12 in.) wide x 0.15 mm (0.006 in.) thick.

3. Color of the underground electrical warning tape shall

be of black designations (letters) on yellow background.
And these designations shall be as specified in par. 2.01 C
as “CAUTION CAUTION CONTACT ROYAL COMMISSION
BURIED ELECTRIC CABLE BELOW.”
