System Release 20.3/20.3.1/20.3.1.1 Information
Introduction
This document provides information for 450 Platform series System Release 20.3/20.3.1/20.3.1.1.
System Release 20.3.1.1 is a maintenance release on System Release 20.3.1 with primarily bug fixes.
System Release 20.3.1 is a maintenance release on System Release 20.3 with primarily bug fixes.
System Release 20.3 adds support for the following new feature:
Attention
l Upgrade SMs first to System release 20.0 or later and then upgrade the AP, otherwise
SMs will connect but at a maximum modulation rate of 2X MIMO-B, until both sides are
running System Release 20.0 or later.
l System Release 20.0 introduces support for TLS v1.2 and v1.3. TLS v1.1 is no longer
supported. CNUT 4.13.3 supports TLS v1.1 only and cannot upgrade PMP/PTP devices
running System release 20.0 or later that are configured for HTTPS only web access.
5
Feature overview
The following new feature is introduced in System Release 20.3:
All 3 GHz AP/BHM Enhanced CBRS Alternate The System Release 20.3 channel hunt
PMP types channel selection feature algorithm now makes use of spectrum scan
(Channel Hunt) information and SAS provided EIRP
information to make a more optimal alternate
channel selection. In addition, this same
algorithm is now also used to find temporary
channels during a DPA triggered suspension.
All 3 GHz AP/BHM Support for Federated Wireless The System Release 20.3 code now supports
PMP types and CommScope Co-Existence sending Co-existence parameter information
feature from the AP/BHM to Federated Wireless and
Commscope SAS's.
6
Feature description
Enhanced CBRS Alternate channel selection feature (Channel
Hunt)
The System Release 20.2 includes a channel hunt feature such that if an operators grants on an AP were
terminated, and that termination from the SAS did not include a useable smaller EIRP, the AP would
randomly select an available channel from the SAS indicated subset of available channels, and
automatically move the sector to this new channel.
The System Release 20.3 adds significant improvements to the channel hunt feature, which are
mentioned below:
1. Instead of randomly selecting a new channel, the AP/BHM will use channel information provided in
the Spectrum Inquiry Response message from the SAS as well as the AP’s own spectrum scan
information to select the best channel available to move to.
2. In System Release 20.3, the channel hunt now also takes place not just on terminations, but also on
DPA triggered suspensions of the entire spectrum of the sector. The AP will carefully select the
best available channel to move to temporarily while DPA is in effect on the original channels. When
the original channels are re-authorized by the SAS, the AP/BHM will relinquish the temporary
channels and move operations back to the original channels.
3. The System Release 20.3 channel hunt feature will make use of the Max EIRP provided by the
Google SAS for determining the EIRP to request for the new channels. This avoids an inefficiency
in the System Release 20.2 channel hunt algorithm, where EIRP higher than that would be
requested, causing the new channels to go into suspended state until CPAS. For Commscope and
Federated Wireless SAS users, higher EIRP will/can still be requested, and the AP will make use of
the same day grant functionality to get AUTHORIZATION immediately.
Note
2. This feature is targeted for cnMaestro 3.1 release. However, Federated Wireless and
Commscope operators are encouraged to add their Spectrum Reuse IDs into the AP’s
database on System Release 20.3 via direct edit on the AP’s UI Configuration > CBRS
> Coexistence Parameters, or by pushing a template with this configuration item from
cnMaestro.

All PMP SM CPY-17649 Fixed bug introduced in System Release 20.3 causing slower
products registration times for SM to Primary AP.
8
Problems and Limitations corrected in System Release
20.3.1
Problems and limitations, that are corrected in System Release 20.3.1 are listed below:
3 GHz CBRS CPY-17601 CBRS EIRP recommendation from Federated Wireless SAS causing SM
SM to go into relinquishment loop. Cambium put out an advisement email
to operators using Federated Wireless SAS on 10/1 recommending
against upgrading to anything later than 20.3 BETA-1 if using
Federated Wireless SAS due to a customer found bug in Cambium
software. This has been fixed in System Release 20.3.1.
3 GHz CBRS CPY-17608 Improvement to suspension handling on PMP 450m when “Reboot for
450m AP Channel Bandwidth Change" flag was disabled.

Known Problems or Limitations in System Release
20.3/20.3.1/20.3.1.1
Known issues in System Release 20.3/20.3.1/20.3.1.1 are listed in the following table:
3 GHz CBRS CNSSNG-21435 The grants for the temporary channels obtained when channel
AP/BHM hunting due to suspension have a clear "tmp" indication in the Logs -
> CBRS page of the AP. However, this tmp indication is not currently
shown on the cnMastro management tool.
Workaround: None
3 GHz CBRS CPY-17460 When temporary channels are obtained due to a suspension
SM's triggered channel hunt, the CBRS logs page on the AP clearly marks
this temporary channels as TMP. In System Release 20.3, no such
TMP indication for the grants for the SM's (on the AP's Logs -> CBRS
page).
Workaround: None
3 GHz CBRS CPY-17357 Cambium shows a TMP flag on the HOME-> Session Status page of
devices the AP for all grants that are considered temporary due to being
obtained via "same day grant". However, this flag is currently only
shown with FW SDG implementation, not with Commscope SDG
implementation. Also, if with FW, there are some inefficiencies and
inaccuracies in a few cases on when the flag is set and cleared.
Workaround: None
450 MicroPoP CPY-17383 The Invalid Message Count field on the Sync Status UI page
increments by one every second on a MicroPoP Connectorized AP
whenever the on-board GPS is active. This issue affects only the
connectorized hardware and is not seen on the omni/sector
MicroPoP versions.
This issue is considered as invalid statistic, which does not cause any
issue with sync stability.
Workaround: None

Network Management
Wireless Manager v4.5.6 may be used to manage Cambium PMP networks, including managing the
RADIUS features. For additional information, see the Wireless Manager website at:
http://www.cambiumnetworks.com/products/management-tools/wireless-manager
cnMaestro
3.0.3 is the most current release of On-Premises as of August 2021, although 3.0.4 release is expected
soon. 3.0.4 cloud rollout is in progress as of late August 2021, although having the most recent cnMaestro
release is not strictly required for basic operation of the new features described in this System Release
20.3.
Operators needs 3.0.2 or later cnMaestro for full compatibility with the CBRS Management Tool, such as
live CBRS grant status updates to cnMaestro, and the request of new grants as multigrants from the tool.
However, conversions to multigrants for existing widegrants can be done with System Release 20.2 on
devices still onboarded to 3.0.0/3.0.1 cnMaestro software versions.
cnMaestro may also be used to manage Cambium devices. Additionally, cnMaestro is required if using the
CBRS feature. See the cnMaestro release notes for more information. For additional information, see the
cnMaestro website at:
http://www.cambiumnetworks.com/products/software-tools/cnmaestro
Canopy MIB
The Cambium Enterprise MIB (Management Information Base) consists of 7 MIB definition files and
supports SNMP access to Canopy modules. The MIB files are available for download from:
https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/pmp450/
MIB files are used by Network Management Systems and Element Management Systems, such as the
Wireless Manager system to support a host of surveillance, monitoring, control, and operational tasks.
If you are using an SNMP network management system (NMS) or element management system (EMS)
other than Wireless Manager: Load the MIBs per the instructions for your NMS or EMS.
Note
Some NMSs are not sensitive to order, but some require a specific loading order to build a MIB tree.
Loading in the recommended order avoids these issues.
